when we moved into our new home many moons ago I did the same thing. I had a spray pump for Roundup grass and weed killer and a separate one for weed killer only... well guess what I grabbed the wrong pump in the next morning I woke up with round dead circles of grass in my front lawn wherever I sprayed it. It took a while but basically I raked out the dead grass overturned the soil a little bit here and there put some starter fertilizer and seed and it did come back. It took a while with some watering but it did come back that season. It's a good opportunity to put in some nice quality seed and end up with a very nice lawn. Perhaps you can rent a mini tiller or something and just to loosen the top inch or two of soil so you don't have to do it by hand and other than that put the seed down, fertilizer and water and I think you'll be fine.

LOL at Philes 1. Don't worry about Chem-Lawn. 2. Tell us what type of grass you have. If you don't know, take some samples with roots your local North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service. There is likely one near you. They will identify the grass for you and will also identify the weeds if there are some you don't recognize. 3. Don't do anything without reading product labels and follow that, not even upon the advice of others. I don't know the weather there in NC, but it's probably too hot to apply herbicides. Labels will tell you not to apply if temps exceed certain temperatures like 80° or 90. See what the label says. A Weed Hound is very easy-to-use and useful tool for removing weeds if you're not able to use herbicide right now. After we know the grass you're growing, we can offer proper care information. Make sure any advice you read here on the forum applies to your grass type. There are many different ones and you could easily end up doing things backwards based on the good advice offered to others that does not apply to you.

I don't have any expert advice for you, but I just wanted to say I feel really bad for you. I can just imagine her spraying the Roundup like she was putting out a fire. Roundup and weeds are all she knows. I love my trees. I've lived with them for many years and have an emotional attachment to them. As far as dealing with her - find out what the laws are first. Then read her the riot act, calmly but assertively, and tell her what the law requires. (Maybe give her a photocopy or a phone number to call if she has questions.) Give her a deadline to make the corrections, and tell her you will take further action with an impartial third party if she does not do so. If she makes any remarks other than "I'll take care of it immediately!" then just tell her clearly that she does not understand how serious a matter this is, and that her actions are a clear-cut violation of your property rights. The longer she ignores it, and the condition of your property continues to deteriorates, the more difficult it will be for her to resolve financially. If she gives you a hard time, tell her that her attitude is unacceptable, and forces you to put the matter into the hands of a third party immediately. And follow through, of course. This approach has worked for me, and I have never had to take legal recourse, because my no-nonsense attitude gets their attention. It is also civil discourse, and there have never been left over bad feelings. Good that she is moving, but you need to think and quickly if you want her to correct the damage that has been done, that you can at this point document, before she is gone and can ignore you. Only a few cacti have leaves, and Easter cactus is not one of them, it is the stem segments you are referring to. Yes, take a few cuttings. If the roots are lost, you will be better off with young segments as old, hardened segments at the base of the plant can be difficult to root. If they survive that is, root rot often causes the segments closest to the soil to die. Easter cacti are sensitive and will often drop segments if they are sick. If you find an Easter cactus puzzle on the floor one day (happened to me twice) you will automatically have a lot of cuttings. Otherwise cut off pieces of 1-3 segments with a sharp knife. Some people root them in water, other (like me) in damp sand or white moss or directly in potting compost. If you do not root them in water the cuttings should heal heal in a shaded spot for a week or so first. Red spots sometimes heal by themselves, but they can also be the result of a fungal disease that will kill the whole plant if untreated. Remove affected segments, just in case.
