Insect eggs ID?

I found this on the back of a Holly leaf. Could it be Insect eggs? Look familiar to anyone?

I apologize for so many posts. GW was giving me trouble again this morning. I tried posting with two different browsers and it wouldn't go. It appeared to be just loading, loading loading. Then I couldn't get to the Organic Forum page until now, so I didn't even see the posts that were already here. *sigh*

Oh and as I was trying to access the forums, GW was putting opinion polls and advertisements in separate windows on the desktop of my computer. Anyone else having trouble using GW lately?

I have no idea what that is on the back of your leaf but did want to let you know that I had problems with Garden Web about an hour ago. I tried to make a post on another forum and it would NOT go through after the preview. It seems to have cleared up now.

Hi engineered garden! Scary, huh? What's really funny is that I knew pretty much that I was under attack. I saw the moth one day, ran in the house, found all sheer curtains I could get my hands on, then surrounded everything as best I could. The next morning I went to check on things and what do I see but a squash vine borer sitting on a leaf waiting to be freed from my makeshift row cover. I think I heard a giggle but I'm not sure! LOL I'm going to post the photo in a new thread as a public service. I thought that the eggs were laid at the base, but most were on the leaf tops (I found maybe 20), and a few others on the stems. I also found a few places where larvae have started to work there way into the plant, so I scratched them out as best I could and placed bits of soil on top of the openings. I still may lose the plants but I always have a Plan B, in this case seedlings that can replace these if I lose them. Maureen

Pyrethrin is a broad spectrum pesticide that should only be used as a last resort. You did start kind of with a good IPM program by asking for help identifying what you have, but the rest is are those causing a problem that needs to be solved and thus far there is no problem. Then if what you have is causing more of a problem than you can live with and needs control you start with the least toxic means of control and that might be hand squishing, maybe an insecticidal soap, maybe just encouraging predators to move in. Don't just assume, as the pesticide ads portray, that every insect needs to be killed off.

The plant was Calceolaria integrifolia Golden Nugget. The eggs were in rows that were like a rectangle and were light to medium brown. I have problems with aphids and white flies, but I looked up those eggs and ruled those out. I don't think they could be caterpillar eggs this time of year. But, I had a big problem last summer with something coming and eating all the lower leaves of annual poppies and even the roses. These guys loved to eat. We never saw what they were, but other gardeners told me they all had the same thing last week. It was not snails or slugs. I had to discard a lot of plants.

Can anyone ID these eggs? I'm not concerned, just interested. As you can see compared to my fingers, they're pretty tiny. Just found them today on my cherry tree.

anney, thanks for letting me know. I wondered if it had anything to do with the 'opinion poll' they put on my desktop because once I clicked on it, it disappeared and I didn't have a problem after that. Yes, it seems to have cleared up. I tried to open the other two posts of mine, on the forum and I got a message saying the thread couldn't be found, so I guess the first two times it actually didn't go through.
