Anyone else using mint spray for insects?

I saw some small flea beetle like holes in my tomato plants the other day. I had some "Victor" aerosol mint spray which is intended for either flying insects or ants etc. and decided to try just spraying it on the tomato plant leaves. Well it may just be a coincidence, but the plants now look exceptionally healthy and huge. I thought the other plants which I put out later looked a bit straggly, so I sprayed them too, and the next day they all looked much better.. now I'm thinking that maybe this is a really good treatment for tomato leaves and to prevent pest damage. I don't think it's good to spray flowers of plants as it would probably harm the pollinating insects, but it seems to do wonders with the leaves... ???
