My first Cattleya bud -- ever!

My C. (Summer x Aclandiae) 'Carmela' has a bud! This is a first for me -- I have never been able to bloom cattleyas. I'm in heaven! As usual, Howard is right. It's the light. I have this plant centered directly under a Metal Halide. The plants on the perimeter get the same treatment, expect for less light, and they have never bloomed. One little scary thing -- I did find a sticky droplet on the bud. I guess there's a scale bug somewhere. I hunted and found nothing. I removed the droplet with a q-tip soaked in alcohol and then sprayed the plant with a neem oil solution. Please tell me that this treatment won't destroy the bud. If I should be doing something else, I'd apprecite suggestions. Thanks, Liz
