Within the past 4 days -- and it's been an unusual week for the high number of ouches because I normally get only one or two a year --

Paper cut on RH ring finger running from cuticle across ball of the finger.

Keyboard's wrist-pad (supposedly screwed down) twisted and then stuck, now there is rectagular bruise on the side of R thumb. Note to self: do not whop pad with left hand if right hand is on screw-slot.

Office mate lost balance and fell against door just as my L hand was on the edge: bruise across knuckles. She's okay.

Log slipped as I putting it on the fire; double triangular burn on side of R hand (fyi, first burn in about 15 years), just below rectangular bruise.

Standing in line to pay for gas, 300-lb guy in front steps backward, onto my foot. Now have cleat-shaped brands on right foot.

Ice cube slipped... cubical corner leaves interesting bruise on the non-stepped-on foot.

And, just an hour ago: torn skin on L index finger from a stapled packet that had the staple's prongs sticking out.

I am presently looking for a comfy hole so that it can be pulled in after me. Gently, please.

That poor puppy! You're going to have to nick-name him "Jaws".

I am knocking on wood here. I've escaped February with less than the typical number of ouchies, but I am still very tender from a trip to the dentist three days ago where a massive assault was waged on some cavities around my two upper front teeth. Bless his heart, the dentist numbed me so I was quite comfortable during the procedure, but it's bizarre where the needle has to go to numb this area, and I feel like Mohammed Ali sucker punched me under the nose.

Have a bruise at the base of my middle toes on the right. Forgot how that happened but presume it was the pole pruner end coming down and just missing the steel toe of my boot. Happens a lot.

Need to get more condroitin glucosamine and devils claw for the arthritis that is acting up with the changes in weather. Been also using the rhodiola rosea that we talked about a while ago. I think it is worth it. Helps the memory too.

Jaws indeed! How weird is that? I've heard of this and other oddities happening in people, but never in dogs. The poor bugger must be teething like mad! (Also, your rug looks a lot like the one in our dining room.)

Meldy, I don't want your luck rubbing off on me! You sound like a walking disaster area!

Right now, the thing giving me most physical pain is my back, which I think I threw out last night. A long bath and some Aleve are in my immediate future... Kotie loves to poke whatever body parts of mine peek out on top of the bubble layer with her little claws and she has jumped in the tub with me and immediately regretted it a couple of times, so bathing now means that I trim her claws first so I won't bleed when she does something stupid.

Looks like playing isn't a problem but is he eating okay?

We had a colt this happened to.
He seemed to be eating but wasn't gaining weight.
One day we noticed a pretty good sized bump on his upper lip...thought he had been bit by a snake.
Vet came out and said his baby tooth never came out so his permanent tooth was still up.
HORRIBLE experience for him.
Had to lance the infection, pull the baby tooth, run a hose daily through the hole in his lip/jaw area to keep it washed out.
Antibiotics.
Etc.

A couple months later same thing happened on the other side.
The vet said he had seen this on one side but never on both sides.
The colt was an Appaloosa.
She never grew to normal size...is still about 1/2 the size a grown horse of her breed.

My oldest son had the same thing happen with ALL his baby teeth.
His permanent teeth never lined up and pushed his baby teeth out.
His permanent teeth always came through inside his mouth to his baby teeth.
Had to have all his baby teeth pulled as soon as we noticed a permanent tooth coming through.
Ended up having beautiful permanent teeth with no braces.
He also had three front baby upper teeth on top rather than two.
But, he only had two front permanent upper teeth.

Wow...teeth city at your house. Digby is fine and eats like a pig. The other side of his mouth looked the same way until last week when his puppy canine loosened and fell out. I think he'll be fine but we'll keep an eye on it.

Ive had this happen a few times with kittens. Never had a problem develope...luckily.
Its been my month for pain. Set the mousie-snappy-head-trap off 3xs on the same thumb. 2x in the same day. The mice must be sooo amused.
My back went into spasms Monday and i have the Mother of all cold sores on my upper lip.
Long naps are the order of the day......

Re-enforced a rotting fence-post, the one that holds up the gate to the goat-pen, by pounding a length of re-bar into the soil next to it and went to tie the two together and got zapped by the hot wire.
I'm sure my eyes lit up and my hair stood on end - it doesn't last long, but it sure is an electrifying thrill!

Looks like you are having an injury contest. I think Meldy is the one winning the price for February.

Oooooh, this is one contest I'd rather pass up. I work in the deli department, and we just got brand new (read verrrry sharp) blades on the meat slicers. I'd like to keep their taste for blood confined to the rare roast beef, so I'm knocking wood with all available knuckles. (But gently, to avoid injury.) Can we just declare Meldy the winner, give Marda's poor pup an honorable mention and declare the contest closed at midnight?

Don, I just ordered R. rosea for DH (no good stuff available locally). If it works well for him, I'm seriously thinking about taking the plunge and switching to it from pharmaceuticals myself. Please email me through my member page - I'd like to talk to you about it some more.

Closed my car door on my hand...it hurts. My seat belt got caught as I got out so I opened the door again enough to adjust it but I had put my hand on the frame as I leaned down and simply shut the door on it. How dumb is that? Not slammed, luckily. There was serious cursing going on in my driveway. It mainly caught my middle finger on my left hand and there's a bump the size of an egg.

We seem to be getting banged up a lot as a group. I was noticing the scars I have from all the small (and large) mishaps over the years. Way too many but then scar tissue is tougher, or so I heard some where. Sure does not help the arthritis.

Don have you ever tried rubbing unscented castor oil into the areas with arthritis? Hundreds of people swear by this when all else fails.

No but I need to go to the health food store this weekend and will pick some up.

Marda, is he chewing like crazy? That's what our dog did when he was getting his grown-up teeth. No shoes were safe! And as an aside, why do they always like the most expensive ones you own?

No major injuries here (knocking on every piece of wood I can find), but my dog has developed epilepsy. Poor thing & it's pretty darn scary when you see a dog going into a grand mal seizure. He's now on Phenobarbital which seems to be controlling them, however the drug does make him pee like a maniac about every two hours.

Have hit my "funny bone" twice lately hard enough to elicit tears. Why in the world is it called the funny bone! Both times I was wrestling large plants into the shower...will be so glad when they can all go outside for the summer. josh .

Josh, that nerve you smashed is called the funny bone because it's sort of a medical joke. The long bone that goes from your elbow to your shoulder is your "humerus." Your "funny bone" is actually your ulnar nerve, which is adjacent to your humerus and causes a tingling (and sometimes quite painful) sensation when struck. Calling your ulnar nerve a "funny bone" is a word play on the humerus and this odd sensation.

I think reading this post has been a curse. Yesterday I picked up a hot plate without a hot pad. Not enough to raise blisters, but just enough to be heat sensative and I have lots of cooking to do for company today. Washing dishes is not fun, either.

Marda, take old sweat socks and knot them as much as you can then freeze them. Digby will thank you and that too might just could out more quickly.
