I'm exhausted. Ed's decided we need to take advantage of good weather, which is reasonable, but we've worked 24/7 for two weeks now. Saturday, I did the masonry work to prepare our really cracked and somewhat sinking porch for what is to come. Ed built a pergola. Then we ate.

You are a working fool! I understand the need to try & get things done, but a little down time is a good thing too.

I totally agree. Fool being the key word here. I don't think I'll indulge him again this upcoming weekend, even if it is good and warm. I forgot, we finished painting the front of the house too.

I don't normally comment on these journal entries---somstimes I almost feel like I'm peeking in someone's diary in a way and feel a little uncomfortable about it, but that's just sometimes--and I only look if I've read everything else already! (Lilo's entries were an exception----they were always chapters from a book about Heaven on earth!! How I love you, Lilo----SUCH a treasure!!) Rob, I will say you've brought back memories of when I went through a divorce with three children and never a DIME of support---I left him alone because he turned over the house to me, which is what I silently prayed for, while sitting in the lawyer's office for the last time. You have MOXIE and I appreciate that part of you when it comes down to the nitty-gritty and hard times. Mardas' point has a lot of validity---it would get tiring, feeling as though one had to defend himself for the way he/she feels, acts, thinks, with every typed word that came into our view. We are not a court---we are a garden of incredible diversity and great hard-won beauty in heart and form. Amen and Amen again.

Robb, how delightful to read your journal; glad you and LF didn't have to miss going to the swimming pool. Glad your Mom was able to help you out. The "Casper Slide" video was fun; I'm so "out of it", I'd not heard it, before. I couldn't sit still while listening, but I was hoping maybe it was an actual video of LF and the folks who joined him. And why did you only watch, young lady? You should have been doing the "Casper Slide", too! LOL

West, I think it's against the law to throw them out, one must pass those tonkas along. (((wink, wink))) Great, well made, aren't they? Gabriell, I saw those when I was trying to figure out what to do with them. It seems like it was last year at some point and I saved the idea and the books just in case I felt like doing it sometime. I'm just sure I learned about it on GardenWeb; most likely on the junk forum. Amazing what people see when they look at objects. Wish I had that gene! I'd even give up 1/2 of my energy gene for it.

Friday - Went to a concert at a guitar shop, a folk singer-songwriter-guitarist named John Wort Hannam. He was very talented and so funny. Sad news for Friday - Norton Buffalo died at age 58. He was a great blues harmonica player and singer, best known for being in the Steve Miller Band but was a session player for many other bands. Saturday - Not as many trick or treaters this year, but still had 185 kids. Lots of candy left over! Sunday - A good day to relax. Went to my sister-in-laws for dinner. She's such a good cook; she made an Italian feast. The weather was beautiful all weekend. Clear blue skies, temps in the 80s. Leaves are just starting to get their fall colors. Andie's right, Rob. Take a breather. A good argument for that is if you do this kind of work when you're tired you a) don't do it right or b) there are safety issues. c) is becomes a grand and that sucks the very life out of you and the project.

You've doing great, all of you. Breath deeply, pat yourselves and each other on the back and take a weekend off (or at the least, a day). I wish I could be there to give you a helping hand:)

I don't the general geographical area where you live, but building pergolas and painting exteriors must mean your weather was at least half-way decent. I can't imagine doing that kind of exterior work in winter. You are making great progress, and being quite faithful about moving right along. It's not fun living in a home where building is on-going, but I am learning to live with that as well.

Reading the speed at which you are doing this makes me tired by proximity. LOL. I've promised myself for twenty years to finish off the work needed on the walls on my up and downstairs foyers and stairwell. The plaster work is my baby, and I'm so used to it by now, I just pretend I am icing a big cake. If I weren't so long in the tooth, I'd consider starting this up as a vocation. LOL.

Keep on posting the pics and the progress. I find it very enjoyable to see dreams take on real dimensions. Good work.

The bean soup looks delicious, too. Your skills seem to go on and on -- cooking and masonry work don't often fall into the same category.

Thanks y'all! I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan... Nah, just kidding. All life is math, isn't it? Add some of this, in this just this proportion... Sand, rocks, and water or beans, ham and cornbread, right? Heck, I pale in comparison to those who grace this great place. Everyone here has great talents that are amazing to me, daily.
