We have 6 of the Jacobsen LF 3800's (2 for each of our 3 golf courses). They do an excellent job of mowing our bermuda fairways at 3/8".

In the long run, organic is much better but that is your choice. If I were to go with chemical fertilizer, I'd go with Lesco brand. Look at them at Home Depot. I stay away from weed and fertilizer because they can do damages to trees. Look for pre-em instead. I would recommend fertilizer with low P (the middle number). it would look like this 24-2-11 on Lesco bag. I also have seen "winterize" fertilizer by Lesco with no P in it at all. Me... I just go to animal feed store and get soybean meal and use rotary spreader for it. That's all to it. Biggest advantage of organic care is a lot less watering and more disease resistant....

We do get people trying to get the jump on their spring seeding. We get to tell them they missed the opportunity for seeding in the fall and give them the probable expectation for the lawn if they seed in the spring (weeds and little grass survival). The golf season begins in January and lots of the advertising goes to Scott's trying to sell seed and fertilizer. It's okay to buy then but don't try to use it even if they seem pushy about it.

I don't care whether the next panel is coming off of the front or the back, though I somewhat prefer the back ... and it looks to me as though that is the style in the original pic. As for the panels feeding at the front, and there may be splash from the men if the toilet is too close ... train your guys that civilized men sit down to pee. In a discussion at a friend's house a number of years ago, a lady with a husband and a couple of nearly grown boys and a couple of girls in similar age bracket said that she'd told her guys ... that if they chose to stand to pee - they cleaned the bathroom! The problem that I have with many of the holders that have a bump at each end just a bit smaller than the tube of the roll, but a thin bar in between, is that a number of the rolls are narrower than they used to be, and the bump at the one end doesn't hold them correctly, so the roll sits askew, and tends to bind when a person tries to pull some paper off of the roll. I remember a discussion here a few years ago when that narrower roll practice began, people were complaining that some stores (I think a major one being Mal Wart) were selling the new narrower roll, and they didn't like it. If I recall correctly, someone suggested that such rolls appeared to be intended for tight-assed people. When I was visiting that receptacle a couple of dozen times and more per day, back there in the winter ... I became quite concerned about using the paper carefully ... and wisely ... and even learned how to reuse it (should anyone have any interest in such a subject). By the way - do you remember my story several years ago about how some people had learned how to recycle toilet paper ... and then came on to say that I'd used the wrong terminolgy, that "recycling" necessitated some reprocessing, and the situation to which I'd referred was actually "re-use", as no "reprocessing" was involved (unless one called re-rolling a strip of the paper back on the roll as "re-processing")? @danielj_2009 and others around the stove, I got to thinking about what you said about speed of lime and particle size. Besides any physical leaching due particle size, I wondered if particle size and speed and amount of change might be the biggest influence on quantity of lime that gets recommended. The quotes you gave above refer to 25lbs for some limes but warn against exceeding bag rate for the "new fast acting" limes. Is the grind that big of a factor? I had my doubts. So I did a search to find the chemical analysis of lime products. To my disappointment, most products don't provide one. Most just say "derived from limestone." That could include a lot of different components. That is a fair amount of calcium oxide (quick lime) and magnesium oxide. Both are extremely caustic, meaning among other things, they destroy living tissue. I know from personal experience that quick or "hot" lime will burn the heck out of your skin. I think the oxide content of the Pennington fast acting lime might help explain some of the difference in lime amount recommendations (from 6 up to 100lbs) and why the manufacture of this product advises 6-10lbs. Makes me question what the other fast acting (or other) lime products contain when the say "derived from limestone." Just another brick for the wall even if it doesn't clear things up. A guy down the road had it i haven't went and picked it up yet he's getting
it serviced and cleaned up for me it only has 40 hours on the meter. He says he bought it for a 4 acre property in California and when he moved here it was just to much tractor for the little 1/2 acre patch. Will do great for me tho since i have nearly 6 full acres of yard (3 acre front and back yard) plus i can use it with my lawn care company I have 4 school football fields i manage and a couple of city parks. These things retail for nearly 50Gs i paid him nearly 12Gs i hope its a good deal.

They got em all over eBay. 2 big companies from Florida have a lot of really nice looking units on there. The seller that had the one in the pic has a sweet little John Deere trim and surrounds mower for $5500.

I have nearly 8 acres. I'm supposed to meet him somewhere tomorrow sometime afternoon these are the pics he sent me. But for lack of a better word im gonna take it to my local dealership and have it checked out cause i thot it was odd too that the pics he sent me came off of e-bay. He told me that it was the company he bought it from we will see.

They still have it CURRENTLY listed on eBay for $9500.

It's actually been on there for a while, I think. I check there a few times a week looking for a reel deal I can't refuse.

Wonder what's up with the 40 hours thing?

I hope the OP is a savvy buyer. A couple years ago someone was advertising turf equipment locally on Craig's List for very good prices. Evidently it was some kind of scam as someone posted links to all the Craig's listing postings (dozens of them) of the very same eqipment all over the U.S. with the seller always being local to that particular Craigs List region and a different e-mail addy. All had the same photos.

Well that was a dud deal. Turns out it had more hours than what was advertised. He had paperwork saying a brand new engine was installed at the 1960 mark and is why i was told 40hrs. The meter had nearly 2000 hrs on it. In anycase i didnt buy it dealer said not to. So back to the drawing board..

Oops sorry I just seen this. Sorry it did not work out, but I knew something was wrong, as a good used one should be more like $15,000 to $18,000
