how to clean drip mark off stainless dishwasher?
Comments (192)Well Mo, sgmkj22 et al... we're observing same phenomenon, which seems to have no viable solution other than "staying on top" of the streaks. Which means every day I suppose. But it sure is bizarre that none of us can make real sense of where/how it comes from. For example the vent idea makes sense, however these evaporation vents are in different places on the appliances - yet some of us get the streaks from seemingly unrelated areas. ALSO I wonder if its mostly Bosch brand, or if its a general stainless steel door thing ? Maybe some of them have really thin/flimsy door panel which essentially translates "heat" from inside leaving ghost marks! All I KNOW is that I hate stainless steel appliances, never understood why they became so popular as to be ubiquitous -- and the ONLY reason I have this new dishwasher in SS is because my husband insisted it would "look better" than my old white one. HA ! I think I'll have HIM "stay on top" of the streaks. Thanks everyone for chiming in... We're hosed. That's it....See More... just one tablespoon of detergent ?
Comments (150)@ Cavimum You should always take those "test results" with a grain of salt. Isn't it funny how the tests always favor the detergent manufacturer who is promoting the results? Look at the Charlie's Soap web site. There you can find a chart showing how cleanly rinsing Charlie's Soap is, and how horrible Tide and other products are because items washed in those products weighed up to 4% more after washing and drying compared to those items washed in Charlie's Soap. The assumption CS is making is that the additional weight must be undesirable "build-up" or nasty fillers that don't rinse away. They are trying to scare you. But I think equating an increase in dry laundry weight to harmful build-up is wrong. Look at Tide Total Care. It is supposed to leave behind protective agents on your clothes to soften them and lubricate the fibers for a "like new" feel. Is that bad? The funnies part in all of this is that CS claims its product rinses as clean as plain water... and guess what? It's as effective as washing in plain water as well. Charlie's Soap's statements are absurd if you think about it. My washer takes 8 kg of dry laundry, but usually I end up washing about 6 kg (3/4 full). According to CS, if I were to wash that 6 kg load in Tide then the dry weight should increase by 4%. That means the laundry weight would have to increase by 1/2 lb. Funny... the amount of detergent used to wash that load only weighs 75 g (filled to line 3 of Tide HE w/ bleach liquid), or 0.16 lbs. What CS is claiming in its "study" is impossible, unless somehow the quantity of my detergent is increasing itself by a factor of three inside the machine and none of it is rinsing off. Divine intervention is required in order to make the CS claims true. I have started to eschew most natural detergents of late. After switching back to Tide HE and Persil, it's quite obvious that the natural products are pretty ineffective. I was hopeful that my whole house water softener would make these natural products as effective as their mainstream grocery store counterparts, but sadly that is not the case. Whites turn grey over time, stains are faded but not removed, and prevention of color transfer in mixed loads is not handled as well. My colored laundry is vivid again and my whites are truly white. There is nothing I hate more than washing a load for an hour or more and still seeing stains that were not removed. While we may sleep better at night for using natural laundry detergent, we may be doing so in dirty sheets....See MoreHave You Used a Product You Really Like?
Comments (60)Speaking of soap, that reminds me, I love the cheapy Jergen's bar soap. It is kind of hard to find though, I buy mine at Marc's. Walgreen's has it too I think. Cannot be found at Walmart or Target etc which is strange to me. I'm very allergic to bar soaps and don't like the sort that leave a oily feel/film on my skin such as Dove. I'll use Jergen's bar soap for as long as they continue to sell it. I also love Dr. Bronner's baby liquid soap, it's fragrance free. I used it as a body wash with a scrubby. I cannot use it on my hair though as it eats it up, my hair is very fine and it is turns it to straw. The damage is lasting too until it grows out! So use caution when washing your hair with it, I would not suggest it for hair honestly....See MoreCarpet cleaner using detergent
Comments (60)Can't comment on new cleaning machines. In the past I had a Bissell and it did a very poor job of vacuuming up the solution. New machine that my DS bought for me. After a very few cleanings, the Bissell then developed a problem where all the cleaning solution would drain out of the tank quickly. Repair part was on backorder. Ditched the Bissell and bought a used Hoover at a rummage sale. It does a much better job vacuuming up the cleaning solution. But it has a design flaw. A hose is breaking at a flex point; I have it patched with self sealing silicone tape for now. The used Hoover has outlasted the brand new Bissell. I'll be on the lookout to replace it when garage sales start again this summer. Likely will be another Hoover. It won't be another Bissell, that much I know for sure....See MoreUser
