Comments (14)I'm going in tomorrow to look for it, faith. I'm sorry to hear about your finish. That's frustrating. No pitting on ours. It's my son's apartment off the house so he's the only one using it. But there are some scratches. Those grates are so heavy, that it is hard to position them over the holes. That's what the scratches are from. If I were you, I'd go above Pacific Sales and give Viking a call. That really shouldn't happen in three months. I know Wolf is really good in their customer service department. I know someone that works there and he says that if the customer is nice and not demanding, they will do whatever they can to help. Why don't you do a post about the pitting on Vikings and maybe you can get info from other Viking owners. I just redid my island. I put in Wolf's 15 inch modules, one induction, a steamer and a multipurpose gas. I like my gas much more than my son's because it is a closed unit. It's stainless and so easy to clean. Don't put it off, call asap. and keep me posted. Good luck....See MoreHow do you clean your stainless appliances?
Comments (22)I tried alot of different products with not much success. I really sorta hated my new stainless appliances...I'm not one to do a great deal of cleaning so I couldn't believe the maintenance with these darn things. Anyway, I think it is important on these threads to mention the brand of appliances you have. Even though it's all stainless steel, I do think they are different. I have all GE Profile appliances. The product that has worked best for me is the Weiman spray. I get it at Wal Mart. Spray it on a cloth and wipe. And I agree with Boxerpups, the Weiman SS wipes do not work as well. Unfortunately, you are probably going to have to try a few products till you find the one that works best for YOUR appliances....See Morecleaning stainless steel dishwasher
Comments (7)If the stains are due to oxidation of the iron component of the stainless steel, i.e., rust, a suitable cleaner is phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid in Coca Cola may be sufficient in mild cases. Otherwise, DuPont 5717S can be obtained from automotive parts stores that cater to body shops. After failing with more common stainless steel cleaners, I found this stuff was necessary to remove some finger prints engraved into my hood extension by someone at the factory. CAUTION! Phosphoric acid will slowly penetrate one's skin to the point of pain, quickly penetrate a cut, and damage one's eyes. The vapor is harmful to the lungs. Follow all directions. Use rubber gloves and eye protection. Use deliberate ventilation. Avoid splashes. Keep the acid off of the floor, marble, and, to be safe, granite. Soapstone should be unaffected. Dilute a small amount at the specified ratio and wipe onto the steel with a cloth. Finish by quickly cleaning with plain water. Dry the surface well. It is best to do the entire surface to ensure a uniform reflectivity when finished. kas...See MoreWhich Quiet Dishwasher?
Comments (71)This Miele dishwasher is crazy loud compared to the way it's marketed. I am so disappointed that I got it. It really isn't noticeably quieter than the 10 year old Bosh it replaced. I think it might have gotten a bit louder now than it was when first installed a few months ago. I'm in another room now with the door closed and I can still hear it very clearly. The regular water noise is a white noise that isn't that bad and can be somewhat ignored, but the sound of dishes moving around when the spray hits them is very loud and distracting. Exactly what I didn't want. The sales person flat out lied or was ignorant when saying the red light that shines on the floor is needed because the dishwasher is so quiet you need the light to know that it's running. The red light's only use to me is so that I know if the drying cycle is on. Drying is the only quiet cycle where anyone not legally deaf could even question whether the dishwasher is running or not. Not sure if the difference between by 42 dba model and the top of the line models 39/40 dba models is enough to make a really noticeable difference or of there a way to load the dishes so they don't make so much noise. Is a 2 or 3 dba quieter dishwasher from the same manufacturer (some manufacturer measure sound differently) really going to be very noticeable difference?...See MoreRachiele Custom Sinks
