Front panel or inside the DW?

You can use a plastic scrubby and hot water on the front panel.

Vinegar or citric acid are good at cleaning the inside.

As soon as the unit fills itself, add the vinegar (a few cups) thewn let the cycle run.

Try using some BKF on a blue scrub sponge. Sometimes that helps remove otherwise unnoticeable residue (packing tape, beverages, etc...). Even oil-based SS cleaners can leave residue, which can wear off unevenly, leaving streaks. Scrubbing all that off leaves you with a "clsen slate." Wipe/rinse well, and follow up with a spritz of alcohol-water spray for example. You might need to repeat one or both steps in order to remove the "stains" entirely, but that should work.

You can also try Goof-Off (just a little bit on a piece of paper towel) if the other cleansers don't remove the stains entirely, and then use the BKF/spray again, if need be.

I use a poduct called BAYES Premium Stainless Steel Cleaner/Protectant and I find it to be the best SS cleaner that I have ever used. I buy it at an appliance store in Canada but it is made in USA. I spray a small amount on a paper towel, apply and wipe off with a soft cloth. It is also biodegradeable. It takes the vertical marks off that I think you are talking about. They have a website but I don't want to post it as I don't want anyone thinking that I am promoting this product. Just stating the product that I have found that works best for me and I have tried a bunch!

If the stains are due to oxidation of the iron component of the stainless steel, i.e., rust, a suitable cleaner is phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid in Coca Cola may be sufficient in mild cases. Otherwise, DuPont 5717S can be obtained from automotive parts stores that cater to body shops. After failing with more common stainless steel cleaners, I found this stuff was necessary to remove some finger prints engraved into my hood extension by someone at the factory.

CAUTION! Phosphoric acid will slowly penetrate one's skin to the point of pain, quickly penetrate a cut, and damage one's eyes. The vapor is harmful to the lungs. Follow all directions. Use rubber gloves and eye protection. Use deliberate ventilation. Avoid splashes. Keep the acid off of the floor, marble, and, to be safe, granite. Soapstone should be unaffected.

Dilute a small amount at the specified ratio and wipe onto the steel with a cloth. Finish by quickly cleaning with plain water. Dry the surface well. It is best to do the entire surface to ensure a uniform reflectivity when finished.

Thank you all for your responses. Yes, I was talking about the outside panel of the d/w. I tried Cat Mom's suggestion of Barkeeper's friend (since I already had that in the house) and IT WORKED ! Thank you so much !!!!!!! Now why didn't I think of that ???? :)

Try this. Half rubbing alcohol and half warm water. I use in a spray bottle for all my ss applicances.
