Update on my spot. I still need help. *pics*

A little while back I posted about a spot in my front yard. I wasn't able to post pictures then, but I thought it could be a fungus. I treated it 3 times with a baking soda fungicide. Sometimes I think the spot has been contained, and other days (like today) I think the spot is spreading and that my whole lawn looks sad. Here are some pictures. I need help. What does my lawn need? pH should be fine, it's had 2 rounds of soybean meal in april and may and used to be dark green. Per some suggestions, I've reduced the mowing height to 3.5 over several mowings. You can see some clippings on the lawn and some wheel marks. The second picture is a close up of the spot. I think grass type is playing a role--you can see a clear end to the spot on the left side of the close up picture, and that's a border between KBG (the green stuff) and a thinner fescue (the dead stuff).
