One thing TW did not mention was waiting until May or June to put the seed down. Bermuda must have very warm soil to germinate in any numbers. Also he did not say anything about adding soil. As long as you have the box blade at your disposal, make absolutely certain your drainage is away from all buildings and from your neighbor's buildings/property. That is what box blades are good at. If you have to haul soil away, you'll need a dump truck. If you need more soil, your friend with the tractor can tell you. But don't just guess that 3 inches of more dirt is beneficial. It probably is not.

No it is not Stupid at all, just odd bed fellows for a blend. I always recommend a blend of two or more Bermuda varieties for diversification. One or more will usually dominate dew to climate conditions. However when you select varieties for blending you would normally choose compatible varieties best suited for your area. OK so here is the Odd Bed Fellow part. P-77 has the lowest cold weather tolerance and winter kill survival rates of either hybrid or seeded varieties. Where as Yukon and LaPrima have the highest of the seeded types. Will work great along the Gulf Coast Lower Atlantic Coast and other places where no freezing weather occurs, but not so great for Zone 7 which I think is where you reside? With that said go for it. There is no reason not to use what you already have. Just be aware at some point down the road when and if you have a normal Zone 7 winter with a cold extended period you may experience a good degree of winter kill.

Well, first cut has taken place. The mulch kit was dealer fitted but looks different from the photos above, as there is no block on the side discharge (should I check this out with the dealer?). Having only used a 16inch push gas mower, it's quite a big change to use a fancy smancy tractor. It took several passes before I figured out the blades weren't on! It's also shown up the big dips I have on my lawn and the two holes! I must fill those up and toss in some grass seed. The plug in hose thingy worked great. I'm just thinking about smoothing out some of those tight bends in the plastic border that separates the gravel from the grass. I will have to reset some portions. Can anyone tell me what I should be aiming at when setting the plastic border height? Are all plastic borders the same? Thanks.
