hi, i am in the cold usda zone 4 bend oregon and we planted over 70 fruit trees this year. recently i noticed a few slug like caterpillars on the leaves, and recently their population skyrocketed. They are small, black, and slimy like slugs with even a slightly enlarged head like a slug, but have segmented bottoms like a caterpillar, very different from that of a slug. they eat out just the soft tissue of the leaves leaving a skeleton of the leaf which quickly falls off. some trees have already lost all of their leaves to this, but luckily it looks like next years buds have already formed and maybe they'll be okay. i've heard that some people here just get these but it is late enough in the season that it doesn't matter too much and doesn't affect fruit quality. it sure does seem to be stressing my trees though. please help me id this. tyler

i have pix but can't post em to this forum without and attachment option.
