Greening Up - Am I just being impatient?

I got hit hard with snow mold this year all over my kbg/fescue/raye lawn. After doing cleanup, fertilizing and then going away on vacation I was pleased to see that when I got back the lawn had improved quite a bit. But I still have brown patches all over the place, some areas that string together as well. I'm worried that they might not fill in but am I being impatient? It has been on the cool side for the most part and I'm assuming that because of the snow mold these areas will take a little longer to green up but I just want to be sure. My lawn definitely isn't looking its best right now so I'm a bit discouraged.

We've spoken before as I had the same issue. Most of mine has gone away, but a few brown spots still remain. I installed an irrigation system this past week, and found that grubs were the cause. 3 or 4 good patches in the yard where most of the grass is dead. You may want to tear up a part of it, and see if any little critters are waiting for you.

A neighbor across the street had the same issue (snow mold). I mentioned the grubs to him and he refused to even think that he had grubs. Today he dug up a patch, and boom, he's got them too.

I shouldn't have them because I put down grub treatment actually twice last year and it's supposed to treat for 12 months. I'm still thinking that they're just areas that are taking a while to green up because I had snow mold over the whole property. Some areas I was concerned with did close in a bit in the week that I was gone. But I will keep that in mind and take a look. Do I just dig a small hole in a spot and see if I spot anything?

Oh man! Im sorry to rub it in, everyone. I know most of you are just buried in snow, with no end in sight. If its any consolation, we have had rain. And rain. And rain. Snow for a minute. Then more rain. *yawn* Sooo boring. Yep the seeds are commercial. Botanical Interests, purchased in December. Im pretty sure they are viable. I'm just paranoid, since this is my first attempt and all. I must just learn to trust it! Heh..wouldn't that be something if that one little sprout was a weed. Imagine how foolish I would feel if I coddled that thing all through spring, planted it out, and it ended up spreading everywhere! Not that ANYONE here has done that before. *whistles* Steff ;)

Well, that's a relief, I am more paranoid than I should be.. I had to have over 200 heritage breed turkeys destroyed last year because of a visitor tracking in a disease from their farm. I was hoping roses would be my new significantly lower stress hobby, but, the Chilli thrips got me jumpy.. Just didn't want to make the mistake of assuming everything was fine and having my other new roses all infected.

Soil temp. For peppers it's all about soil temp. It can be warm during the day to you but if it drops enough at night to let the soil temp stay low, those peppers are just gonna sulk and no amount of plant love is gonna change their minds. Face it, you planted too early so now you just get to wait. Of course you could get a soil thermometer and learn about soil temp and plant response while waiting. Don't worry about the blossoms. The plant will take care of them.......meaning probably abort them. Contrary to popular belief plants know what they're doing. It's us human who are the fools. The great part is our bigger brains allow us to recognize our mistakes when we make them again next year.

While I agree with the need for a new chipped card, my current card will expire in September. If I were to request another card now, it would still have the same expiration date leaving me to have to update all my information twice in a short period of time. However, before they send me a new card, I need to find out if the new Visa debit card would be chipped. I don't want to use cash. The convenience of using a card is important to me. Nor do I want to be writing checks. Checks are no longer free with my bank and I'm happy to be done with check writing. While on my way to the next town over today I thought how ridiculous it was to allow myself to get in such a huff over something so simple. It takes all of maybe 30 seconds to enter the information. And, usually I begin to plan my grocery shopping on Wednesday, loading store coupons onto my MVP card and making out my shopping list. Wednesdays are when I begin getting in a mood. Unhealthy, to say the least! So, I was all ready to let it go. But, oh no... not a single problem using my card and I just had to bring the situation to the attention of the manager at the other store. Sounds like they need to be train the manager AND the cashiers at my local store! Thank you, everyone. I need to start doing some meditation. :)

I treated as well.

Yes, find an area that is still brown and pull the sod back.

Snow mold scars can linger for a good long while if it's severe enough.

For grubs pull back 1 sq. ft. and count how many you see. Seeing grubs isn't the same thing as having an issue. More than 12 is an infestation. A few here and there is no problem.

Yes...but yes. It usually does recover, but if it's severe enough it'll take out the grass.
