New bird feeder

Just wanted to post a picture of the new bird feeder that DH made for me to replace the old one that finally fell apart after the big snow storms of this past winter. It's made of all vinyl, so this one shouldn't rot away!

I would destroy my old one on purpose for that beauty. What a lovely addition to your yard. Your DH did a great job.

Your candy dish is cute. Love your birdie picture. Silly birds they build nests in the craziest places. Last year killdeers built a nest amongest our hostas. Our grandkids, 3 and 5 loved watching the eggs go from eggs to babies, to grown up birds, very educational for them and grandma.

Schoolhouse, I know what you mean - 50 lbs. of black oil seed is about $28 with tax. Between the birds and the cats, I will soon be on mac and cheese!! lol. But they are entertaining. I was expecting to be working from home, so placed the feeder outside of my office window! Had my 1st goldfinch today. He must of come a long way, as he just got right in and chowed down for about 15 minutes!! Nancy.

The replacement bird feeder actually isn't new. I bought it and used it last year, but had it in a different location. I didn't get it out this year until last week when the old feeder on my kitchen window was leaking due to a crack in the bottom. But I've always had a feeder on my kitchen window...are those little birds that smart to notice that it is a different feeder than the one I had up earlier last week? The old one was solid red, about 10" tall, with 4 yellow "flowers" to feed from. The current one is a clear globe (kind of shaped like a hot-air balloon). Only the bottom is red, but it still has the 4 yellow flowers to feed from.

They are constantly checking their territory for new food sources, so one or two of them blunder into the feeder and start eating, other birds see them eating and it's been discovered.

Wow, Marlene...I would say that is quite the "upscale" feeder! Very elegant!!! I also like the glass insulator on the top! DH did a great job! Pat on the back!!! My DH & I used those same-looking metal spindles for making birdhouse stakes ...so they wouldn't rot. I'm sure your birdfdr will last for yrs! TFS! Jeanne S.

Man! You guys have been busy! An elegant birdhouse and now an elegant feeder! The birds will have to start making reservations!!! The news will get out...you know those chattering birds! I fill my feeders and within minutes the whole family is there!!! LOL I really love your creation and noticed the insulator on top too! INSPIRING!!!!! Thanks for sharing! Bear Hugs! Kirk

Very elegant,your birds will love it! Seeing the insulator on top means it is much larger than it looks in pic. Birds will be telling each other to go to the "White House" it's biggest & best! What's on the menu?? Jan

It looks like a Greek Temple, it's beautiful and I want one. It's so classy looking, I really like things like that, but I'm also starting to really like the junky garden art too. DH has his doubts.

Hahaha! We've been calling it the Lincoln Memorial the whole time John was making it....it is big...about two feet long and 18 inches or so high. I'm going to have to put some other plants or GJ around so it will not look so large where I have it. Thanks for the inspiring words...more projects to come!

Excellent Greek Revival design. That is why my birds haven't gotten back to TX. They are staying up at your house.
