Fruit Tree Critters - Possible Solution

So all my peaches got swiped overnight by those nasty raccons (2nd year in a row). I've got leaves and peach pits scattered on the ground and broken branches in the trees as evidence.

I've looked near and far for a suitable solution to this problem. Netting is possible however I'm told the coons and/or squirrels will tear the netting/bags open with no issue. Installing aluminum sheeting around the trunk is a possibility although I've heard people have seen mixed results and moreover, my trees are near a fenceline. I don't like guns, poisons or traps as have dogs and kids.

So I was stumped until I found the following two battery powered products which will create a non-lethal electric charge:

1. Zareba Battery Impedence Controller

http://www.amazon.com/Zareba-B10LI-Battery-Impedance-Controller/dp/B000HHS8SC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

2. Havahart Battery Operated Intermittant Energizer

http://www.amazon.com/Havahart-SS-2LGX-Battery-Operated-Intermittent-Energizer/dp/B0042XAP38/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

I'm thinking I could run the wires around the trunk and some of the branches and wa-laa, an electrified tree for under $60. Batteries last 2-3 months which would get me through the growing season just fine (July through the end of August).

What does everyone think? Does this look like a possible plan? I've got one robust peach tree at the moment, but three more will be ready soon. Plus I've got apple trees maturing fast. I've got to think of something...

Any comments or experience would be helpful.

Thanks.
