Will fish fertilizer work against scale as well as Fish Emulsion?

I bought something called Fish Fertilizer according to the product but the label said "Fish Emulsion Fertilizer." It's basically fish feces and boy does it smell like it. This is what I bought.

at Lowes.

Is this the same thing? If not, will it at least destroy the scale infestation? Thanks in advance.

Let me rephrase what I said. The product label said "Fish Fertilizer" while the shelf label where the price is displayed usually underneath the product said "Fish Emulsion Fertilizer."

MC, I'm 99% certain your Fish Fertilizer is Fish Emulsion.
NPK, 5-1-1 is the same.

What its size? Ounces? half or full gallon? It looks large.

One of my FE is Alaskan, but much smaller than your container, without a handle.

Yes, FE has an odor... :)
FE killed a scale-infested Olive tree received from an online nursery, and citrus branches on either side of Olive.

I spray FE in autumn, as a preventative before plants come indoors.
While spraying leaves for insects, FE also acts as a foliar feeding.
It's also used like any other fertilizer.. Add water, then fertilize soil. Toni

PS. Odor lasts 2-3 days indoors.

I use it regularly on outdoor stuff - have for years. I like it, though I really couldn't say I find it to be head & shoulders above stuff like Osmocote or MG. Though it makes no difference to plants where they get their nutrients from, in the back of my mind I have this feeling that the lower the concentration of fertilizer salts in a container, the less the likelihood of problems with water/nutrient uptake. Frequency of applications vary by plant. Because I am a bonsai grower, I often fertilize at and above recommended doses, but there are plants whose development I want to slow, too. In actuality, the best fertilizer program for best plant health doesn't usually include the inducing of the most robust growth. Heavily fertilized plants will usually be found to have less energy in reserve to fight off insects & infection with various pathogens. In addition, the highly succulent growth produced by heavy applications of nitrogen is favored by insects, making them a more likely target for infestations. Though some might argue the point, it is near impossible to keep containerized plants happy without supplemental nutrients (except for the small percentage that prefer a very spare soil). For most container growers (and I'm talking about the average Joe/Jill) a good policy would be to watch leaf color carefully. If you see signs of chlorosis, or venation, give the plant a half dose of your favorite balanced fertilizer. If, in a week or so, color doesn't improve, another dose is in order. Though the minors (micro-nutrients) are beyond the scope of your question, scarcity of certain elements, particularly in containers, can be a problem. I use a micro-nutrient frit in all my container soils, but as of yet, I have only found it in 50 lb bags & it is expensive (but dosage is small & a little really goes a long way). There is a major producer of fertilizer that has a liquid product on the market that advertises it contains the minor elements. Though I haven't tried it, I would really recommend you try it for containers & houseplants. I'm not sure, but I think Schultz makes it. Perhaps some one can help me here? Good luck. Al

The main bed I've put them in is roughly 20x24. I've been doing it for a few years. What happens is that my brothers ice fish, so they save all their guts for me, and i just build up a good pile. In spring they thaw out, my garden thaws out and I bury them about a foot down. My nutrient levels are probably through the roof. Its amazing that most of the fish is just tossed in the garbage. You guys are right about animals. I swear my neighbor dog was digging in my fish guts a few years back after i had buried them. An option would be to put down a big board or some heavy fencing (cattle panel) over the top of the guts for a few weeks.

No miracle, just normal events. - Light green to darker green -- because is now well hydrated - more growth - it was a good day for growth (temp and light) plus plant had sufficient water; growth is cell expansion. - more female flowers - It was time; the "baby" flowers were there days prior to the addition of water & fert.

So I decided to give away the tomatoe plants I was going to grow in containers to our grandparents. My husband talked me into it since I just started my nursing program on Monday, & of course he's right, it would be hard for me to manage everyone in our garden. So as of now, I have 5 tomatoe plants in the ground. We have a new house and the new thing around here is "no backyard". Our backyard is TINY!! There all doing great so far, we amended the holes with master nursery bumper crop (should have done the whole area as a whole, but will do it next year), I put in 3 celebrity, 1 Brandywine & a better boy. We added tomatoe tone around the tomato plants 4-6 inches around the stem & topped it with earthworm castings & straw bought from tractor supply (10.99 a compressed bale) and left about a 1 inch of empty around the stem. As for my strawberry plant and basil and cilantro which are in containers, I just threw on some earthworm casting and topped with straw. The banana pepper is in a whisky barrel container and I threw 8 stakes in of Jobes organic vegetable slow release fertilizer in the soil (what packaging said). So as for the tomatoe tone - it says add more in 14 days after the first fertilization. What do you guys recommend? We planted the plants on March 28, added the fertilizer and earthworm castings April 1. Should I get any other kind of fertilizer for my tomatoe plants or is the tomatoe tone good enough to last me all season (remember they are all in the ground). What about my strawberry or herbs? Should i just forsure leave them alone or just keep adding worm castings once a month? I think I'm leaving the fish emulsion alone, too confusing for me, unless someone advises me to use some on my plants - do give details lol

Awesome. So I did what you said. I mixed a capful with 16oz of water, sprayed those mongrels and now I'm awaiting results. 24 hours you said?

Mc...It took less than 24-hours to rid scale on my plants, hopefully, you'll have similiar success.

When did you spray with FE? Today?

this is fe or at least it better be, its the same kind I just bought for the same purposes lol

from what I understand fe is the liquid remains after processing fish for fish oil and fish meal.

it looks like chocolate pudding and smells like the aftermath of an apocalyptic deluge.

How much FE do i use for scale, i am spraying Lipstick vine, Arrowhead, Areca palmree, Corn Plant, Bougainvillea,Spider Plant, Coleus, Money Tree,English Ivy, Hypoestes, Philodendron. I also bought Bayer 3 in 1, new soil, i have read all the posts on this site...now i am so confused as what to use...So i bought Neem Oil, Pyrethrin, horticultural oil, i cannot find Brand X, or i would of bought that also. Diatomaceous Earth. Please help. Oh yes.... alchohol, dawn soap & q-tips really? I would spend the rest of my life on that lol.
