working on my Xmas decorating

Well, I am about 3/4ths done with my Christmas decorating. I still have my Village to set up, and one more small tree to put up and decorate in the living-room (on the right side of the fireplace).

But here's what I've done so far......

63 images, 3 album pages on Photobucket for it. LOL

I don't do outside decor. My darling DH isn't into this stuff, and doesn't help. Tho he sure seems to enjoy all my decorating.

My body hates me even more this week, but the feeling is mutual. LOL. I love Xmas stuff, and the more house-bound I get, the more I seem to enjoy it. "Stuff" makes me happy!

Wow, I just looked at the whole album, your home looks like a Wonderland now! Where ever did you find the purple peacock? And that purple fairy? Still love the tree on the wall, and all the bead garland on it. Everything is beautiful :D

Wow Karen! Everything looks great! I'm still working on mine, but I've been laid up this week with a torn knee muscle!! :( Thanks for sharing with us! Love the purple tree and decorations--very unusual!!

Betty, the gold pair of birds and the white one are actually partridge or quail. I like fat lil' birds, LOL. Heck, I like any birds, who am I kidding! Mary, that wall tree is about 6 ft high and totally flat back. I've had it many years. I've seen them more often now tho, in catalogs and pre-lit too. They look really neat with a table (and a village scene) under them, but I'd rather not give my cats any extra incentive to explore things! LOL I'm wondering if an inexpensive faux tree from thrift shop or yard sale couldn't be done as a wall tree tho. Just flatten the back branches, or even remove them! Slinkey, I found that tin sleigh quite a few years back in an antique shop. Last year I put a floral arrangement in it and decided I liked that use of it best. Delph, I'll put you in my WILL for the Nutcracker cookie jar. LOL. I just got him off eBay two wks ago, and love the little guy. I saw some other nutcracker ones listed, but mine 'spoke' to me and they didn't. Thank you Everyone, for such glowing comments on my home and decor. You sure know how to make a gal feel REALLY good. My purple wreath was a new venture for me and I'm especially glad to hear compliments on it. I went in Michaels today....BIG MISTAKE. My wallet is much lighter this evening. I'm incurable with Xmas goodies!! They had prettier peacock clip-on ornies this year I think. I got my purple one, and two sparkly silver ones last year. This time they have red, white, black, and kind of a golden brown...but they are fluffy feathered and sparkly heads. So pretty! I got the white one and the black one. Couldn't resist them. Lots of sales on Xmas stuff, most is 50% off. They also had a Santa I couldn't leave behind. Note to Self, stay out of Michaels till NEXT year!! hugs, Karen

I am loving everything I am seeing!! Love all the blue and silver being used. I had the urge to put up 2 trees this year....one full out decorated with big fat ribbon and one with our family ornaments but I was LAZY and just did one. Just a mish/mash of ornaments but oh, well I love seeing the lights. Besides my DS's tree with his ornaments - he did it and I have the hardest time not fussing with it!! I will get some pics up soon. These cats are hilarious!! Cattknap - I understand where you are coming from!! Everything is just so damned "political" now. I always say "Merry Christmas." I also resent the marketing that goes on around the holidays. If I were crafty I wouldn't buy one thing from department stores!! Well, except Toys R Us!! But, for the first time in a few years I am feeling the Spirit of Christmas!! We lost my father, and he had been very sick before. It is weird how traditions change after losing one of your parents but new traditions will be made!! I am smiling this year!! So, please keep sharing your beautiful decorations. SMiles:)

I personally would be happy with very little or no Christmas decor - I have tubs and tubs in the basement too. I've pared down but, every year I put out the outdoor lights, setup the tree and take everything out of the built in bookshelf so the Christmas village has a home. I do this for my son because he gets so much pleasure out of it and I know at 11 years old, he'll only be interested in all of this for a few more years. Your six year old's stocking hanging is precious. Enjoy letting them decorate the house - they get so much pleasure out of Christmas at this age - it doesn't have to be overboard, but can still look festive. For the last few years, my son has "decorated" the tree. We have a prelit artificial tree, so all I have to do is set it up and plug it in. I used to get so stressed about where every ornament was and whether the little ones were on top etc. One year he told me - I'll do it Mom, you don't have to worry! I think we was about 9 at the time. So in total frustration with the whole holiday gig I said - sure have at it. Of course only the bottom half of the tree had ornaments, and I controlled myself to the point of only rearranging a few so they were a little more balanced. It was still very pretty, and I wasn't exhausted and stressed at the end, so now he decorates the tree and I do the Christmas Village. Somehow DH gets out of all this Christmas decor setup...hmmm!

OMG, Purplemoon! No wonder your body hates you this week! Your home is just AWESOME! I hope your DH carries your "totes" for you...you've got to have lots of them in storage! You have been working HARD, lady!

As for favs, OMgosh, that is hard to say... but I love your couple Santa's with the purple cone trees ... and, of course, your wonderful carousel horse with your purple tree...and all the co-ordinating on the ornaments! Just like your gardening, so many vignettes to absorb!...the kitchen and colorful cookie jars...you've been collecting a long time, I bet!

Thanks for sharing with us! It's a boost for my morale...I'm also working on decor the past couple days and love to celebrate the change of seasons...and the birth of Jesus. Jeanne S. (p.s. and my body is hating me, too...and also the feeling is mutual!...but we are HOME and enjoying, as you say.)

Just awesome, Karen! I love the carousel horse. And I can appreciate all the Santas because I love to collect them too. But I really love your fairy wreath. It is all so stunning! Beautiful work!

Marlene, I'm so sorry about your knee. I know how knee pain can really hinder one. Hope you heal soon. Over the last couple of years, I've collected purple ornaments when I saw them. Then someone told me Walmart had these little purple trees and I just couldn't resist getting one.

Jeanne, sorry your body isn't your friend either. I've decided getting older isn't for wimps, LOL.

Oh, I think my family is lucky I only bought the little purple Walmart tree. (actually its lavender)....cause I saw this BIG purple tree on the web and WOW. How I'd love to have this one.

By the way, if any of you love looking at Christmas Inspiration photos, I did a big ol' album for my Holidays Forum. Over 200 pictures in there. I love looking at it over and over, wish I lived in a CASTLE and could do all those neat things!

Honestly, Karen, I got weak looking at all your decorations and thinking of the effort you've put into it all. Amazing!

You home is really lovely!! Do you give tours during the holidays? You certainly have plenty of wonderful things to see. And I thought I had a lot of stuff! Your curio cabinets are unreal!!

Tours? Oh my gosh, no. Never crossed my mind. I don't even know anyone who does that around here.
Especially with all my animals and clutter, I'm always a bit insecure how people will react to my home. LOL.
I've got 10 china and curio cabinets thru out the house, mostly with my whippet collection. The Painted Ponies got the really huge cabinet, so they are in one spot. But everywhere else you look its the dog stuff. Artwork, shelves, cabinets, floor (numerous lifesized ones). LOL.
Thank you for thinking it all looks beautiful. I really appreciate that so much.
