Cats Shredding My Sansevieria... how do I prune?

So aside from the obvious answers of "toss cat outside" and the whole cayenne pepper bit, etc... I was wondering what to do with the already, ugly stalks/leaves that are currently damaged and somewhat shredded at the top (one is even broken over in half)?

It's an established plant with about 20 different leaves ranging in size from 28 inches tall to new growth and living happily crammed into a 12" pot. So far, I have about 5 taller leaves that are damaged pretty good by the cats.

So... do I cut damaged areas back into the shape of leaf, or simply cut it back at base by soil?

It seems not to care about this abuse, such a resilient plant, but I don't care for the shredded look. I was planning on transplanting it somewhat soon to a fancier pot than what it came in, moving to a new location, and TRUST ME... the cats will be leaving it alone in the future.

Again, how do I prune this gal?

(Note: cats are not ingesting this plant (re: toxicity and such), only using it as a scratching post with their claws in current area.)

Thanks for your help!!!
