SEE link below. The petals will turn brown as they die, and it will be uneven. The typical sign for fireblight is the sheppards crook (curling up of the end of your branches). I'd make sure you have a real problem before butchering your trees. Also don't worry about bleaching your pruners, it isn't necessary according to the fire-blight expert researcher from PSU who tries very hard to intentionally spread it in the lab. Although I still dip mine in rubbing alcohol between trees. Look closely at your trees, if you have fireblight, its originating from a canker somewhere, find the canker which will be oozing a sticky fluid, and you will confirm that you have a problem. Obviously if you have it, you must cut it out or the tree will die. You need to cut at least 8 inches below the infected parts to ensure you get it. Here is a link that might be useful: Fireblight

Not fireblight.I happen to have currently a 20 feet high Comice tree with firebligh braught likely by insects or birds from neigborhood backyards with apple and pear trees showing fireblights.Very hard to control in an urban setting beacause people do not know nor take action to stop it.Close to this pear tree I have one Warren pear tree and one Flemish Beauty pear tree. Totally free from fireblight. They must be resistent to fireblight bacteria. You likely have one of the following issuess:fungus mites or lice, soil elememts deficiency or watering issue due to poor drainage. I suggest you take your leaves to a nursery for an expert to diagnose the problem.You also might send to a lab a sample for analysis.Eliminating the first 3 possibilities you might do a drainage test for your soil.The info to do it is in the net.Just google it.The result will give you an idea how to water the tree. I don't see anything I would call fireblight in your pictures, but you don't really show the correct spots. Fireblight has nothing to do with fires. I'm not a fireblight expert but I've never seen goo. The area turns black, shrivels and dries out.

To avoid fire blight plant something that does not belong to the rose family - something other than a pear, apple, cherry, peach, plum or serviceberry. Magnolias, redbuds, crape myrtles, dogwoods and many others are not susceptible.
