Fire blight resistant ornimental?

Hello All..

I just purchased my first home and have begun a love-affair with gardening, its really becoming a joy of mine.

I live in Kentucky (zone 6), my soil is a clay base so it does not drain very well. I have a Pyrus, fruit bearing Pear tree in my back yard. I've discovered it is badly diseased with Fire Blight, about 70% of the tree is infected. I would like to remove it and replace it with a small ornamental tree. I'm concerned about the spread of Fire Blight and I would like to select a fairly disease resistant tree. Any suggestions?

In the photo you can see how badly damaged the (center) Pear tree is. I would like to place the new tree around the same area, in partial shade (thanks to my beautiful sugar maple).
