Leaves Suddenly Turned Black /Brown
Comments (8)Good morning, Missmary. New growth can be affected by a frost so it is possibe that a frost caused the leaves to turn blackish. This warm winter has affected hydrangeas in many places similarly, by making them leaf out too early and then surprise them with freezing temperatures. The frost should not hurt the roots so the plant is in no danger. Keep the shrub well mulched (3-4 inches), the soil evenly most and, if you use winter protection, remove it 1-2 weeks after your average date of late frost in Spring (local nurseries can tell you this date if you do not know). Do not fertilize stressed out plants now; maybe in early June....See Moreenglish ivy leaves browning suddenly
Comments (7)Hello! I've noticed the same browning/dying of my english ivy that is growing up a large oak tree in my yard. I have a large ant colony in that bed that I've never been able to eradicate and I was wondering if they could be killing it. It's about 3 years old and looked great until now. Could it be getting too much sun just because the leaves aren't out yet? It's been in the 60's and 70's here already, but this hasn't ever happened before! And for those who worry so...I keep it clipped well back, never let it get big enough to flower and burn the clippings so they don't spread....See MorePlumeria leaves turning yellow/brown; Some leaves curl
Comments (58)Jennifer —-(Spraying with Neem Oil and or and other mixtures to eradicate the insects organically could still harm those beneficial insects. Some people will just let those pest stay on the tree because they dont want to harm them. Its a difficlt choice to make for some and you need to understand that some bad infestations that might get out of hand and could cause your trees to become weak and allow other diseses to slowly kill your tree. i always try and let Mother Nature work on the right balance of the pest verses the beneficial insets to keep everything in check. But sometimes i will have to step in and use more than organic to combact the problem. its up to you to decide what is best for your tree. Comments (13)I usually don't let them wilt/curl up, but it does happen on occasion.. as far as sunlight, they have the grow lights on them, and have been doing for a while, but starting yesterday I have opened the blinds up to let them get sun, greener leaves don't come off easily. As far as curling/curving, some are flat, some curve slightly downward, and some curve slightly upward, but there are quite a few leaves that droop down from front to back. I think I'll focus on getting them more light, and less fertilizer, in the back of my head I was kind of thinking the fertilizer might be part of the problem, I only got it in November, before that I used the fish poo, but they hadn't had any in months, so I was probably overfeeding to make up for it lol...See Morejaxondel
