HI I never heard of these before. I researched and they look great. I am an ovarian cancer survivor that tries to eat lots' of natural fruits, veggies etc. That's why I grow alot of what we eat. What are you looking for in exchange? Dale

If they are 'cottony' looking they are mealybugs. Nasty sucking critters. Dip a q-tip in rubbing alcohol and wipe it on them. They like getting into the layers of leaves of daylilies (at the base where it's hard to eradicate). Google search should verify if that's what they are.

Very interesting...I remember when I was a kid and going outside and hearing the loud noise from the Cicada made me think of being invaded by aliens. A short search on the net and found out that there are 13 states expected to hear the song of the "XIV brood": Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachuets, Maryland, NCarolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and W Virginia. Brass I'm too far south in Georgia (I figure).

I'm growing some ground cherries now (raised them from seed, they look great!), and we just planted two plants in a 5 gallon container. I imagine they will be a bit crowded, but regardless I think a 5 gal bucket or pot would be plenty big for a single plant. The ones I just transplanted did not have very extensive roots, even though the plants themselves look to be very healthy and they seem to be fairly mature already. Cape goosberries are probably a little bigger than these ground cherries, but still I imagine 5 gallons would be enough for one plant, perhaps more than it needs, as long as it gets nutrition and water.
