Giving up, automatic SWC a bust

This year I perfected my automatic float system to water the SWCs that I grow tomatoes, beans, peppers, & eggplants in.

It was the worst year yet for production. Ugh!

The beans were the biggest disappointment. Usually get tons of them.

Tomatoes plants turned weak and got blossom end rot. I did lime.

The peppers and eggplants still did ok.

My conclusion is that in previous years, I ended up mostly hand-watering my SWCs and thus they got a chance to dry up some and since I top watered some they received good air flow at least some of the time.

With just constant reservoir watering I believe was too much for the plants health.

Next year, I'm capitulating and going to water by hand and just turn on the floats when away for vacation.

Has anyone had good experience with fully automatic SWCs?

I'd love to hear other had good experiences.
