carrots in containers

I planted some carrot seeds in a large window box container on May 29. I kept the box on my back enclosed porch and the seeds began to germinate in a week. It got muted sunlight during the day and I misted them with water every day. This past weekend I decided it was time for them to be moved outdoors. I put them out in the sun, checked back in a few hours and found more than half of them wilted, fell and shriveled up. I was heartbroken, they were doing so good. The ones that survived are starting to get their true leaves now. I would like to pull the dead ones up and replant some more. The seed packet says to plant in full sun, do carrots not like full sun? I have some in the garden outdoors and they seem to be coming up a little slower, but they're are coming.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Diane
