Soil for direct-seeding carrots in containers outside?

Hi all,

If I want to sow some carrot seeds in an outdoor container, is a regular planting mix okay? I have GreenAll, which contains fir bark, mushroom compost, perlite, earthworm casings and a wetting agent.

I'm confused because almost everything I read about starting seeds involves using a special seed-starting mix, and then transplanting the seedlings into a regular planting mix. But I don't want to fill the whole container with a seed-starting mix only, and I can't transplant the carrots, so ... ?

Is this mix okay or does it have too many nutrients to get the seeds off to a good start?

Thanks, this is a great forum.
