Lamp for entry table AND what to do with wall going up the stairs
Comments (50)I like that runner. AND I need a cabinet like that for shoes, too! So, to answer your question, yes, I think you are on the right track. A rug with blues, browns, and greens would tie everything together. Keep looking. You will find it-and don't settle for something you don't love. :). Oh, and don't reject out of hand polypropylene rugs there. They are soft, have great colors, and wear like iron. Easy clean, too which is great with boys and dogs (ask me how I know). We had one in our family room which was also our most-used entrance to the house and now our son has it in his home. Also, Rugs USA is having a 65% off sale for Columbus Day. Comments (8)I think this might be about all I can do this year but I think it’s a huge improvement from where I started! I really wanted to find a more structural plant to put along the wall but I went to three different garden centers and nothing jumped out at me. Ended up doing three small planters with daisies and trailing sedum instead. The existing pots got reshuffled to the edges of the wall, which helps mask the unfinished ends I think. I added a couple of chairs and a small table too. :)...See MoreAany idea what I can do with this entryway?

I love trees, although the way to get a nice tree that loves your spot is to start small. If the thing croaks promptly, it wasn't the plant for you. If you buy it big, you spend a lot of money. You should start by thinking about what you need. For example, do you have extra dining room chairs that are only used for big dinner parties when you put extensions in you DR table? Maybe housing a chair in that corner is what you need. Do you need extra storage? Maybe you want a dresser for out-of-season outerwear. Do you have lots of books? Maybe you need a tall bookcase. After you figure out what you need, then make it look nice. The dresser can be topped with art or a sculpture. The bookshelf can have some decorative items, the chair have a pillow and art above....See MoreWhat can I do with this corner in my foyer/entryway?
Comments (25)Regarding your question about laying something over the marble, in our last home the previous owners laid ceramic over ceramic and we lived there for over 25 years - no cracks. It will be a pain though for anyone down the road who is updating, but you could ask a pro to be sure (will need a transition piece at doorways). The area where closet was will have to be filled in and very level. If it were me, I’d bite the bullet and remove the marble and try to match up to your wood floor or use a more casual, rustic feel. You may look back and wish you had, especially if the marble looks patched....See MoreManon Floreat
