I feel your pain. We've had a double whammy problem with deliveries since we bought this house.

First, the previous owner was a real jerk & nobody liked him so the post office & UPS wouldn't deliver. (The guy had just got out of the Federal slammer after doing 7 years for drug trafficking.) It has taken five years to convince the post office & UPS that neither DH nor I will bite their heads off or, more importantly, threaten them. It's been an uphill battle. They still ask if he's been in the area recently. Geesh. All they had to do was deliver the mail...we had to sit across the closing table with him for one entire day & half of the next. I understand their concerns but he's gone...get over it!

Second, we share a zip code with a very small island just off the coast. The bridge going to the island is narrow & the UPS trucks are not allowed on the bridge. Since everything is tracked by zipcode these days...we automatically are denied service (even by Sears delivery trucks). It doesn't matter how many times I explain that we are a few feet from the water & there's no reason even a semi couldn't delivery right to our front door. Doesn't matter... I can't order from regular places like WS, KA, etc. without going thru great pains to have them write on the box, "Not on Mason's Island!" & even then many packages never arrive in a timely manner.

I have no words of wisom for you but do offer my sympathies.

Hmm, I guess I have the opposite problem. Our PO won't deliver unless everything is exactly right on the address. If I walked past the PO and they saw me, they wouldn't let me know I have a package. Right name -- wrong house number? It goes to the wrong house although they know perfectly well where I live. I 've been there 34 years.

I also occasionally handle the non-profit mail for my library. You need a Masters Degree in logistics to make that happen.

Oh well. Hurray for email.

It all depends on who is handling the mail....I have had things returned to sender because there was one digit off in the house number, and another time I had a post card I had sent out announcing a meeting ay my house and the address. I had not put a return address on the front of the card. One card I had mis addressed, and they bothered to read the back of the card and send back it to me!!
All depends on if the guy reading the card had a fight with his wife that morning!

I give up trying to figure out how to predict what will happen. This morning I got the second portion of my shipment (they sent it in two shipments for some reason) on my front porch, which was amazing. And there was also mail in the box, so I have no idea how that worked. usually they would leave it all in a bag hanging from the box. So who knows!

Since we moved recently, a lot of our mail has been forwarded. Some comes to us with our old address and no forwarding label since they know us. Yet once in a while, you'll get a piece or two with my maiden name on it and they'll make a huge question mark. LOL By now you'd think they'd figure it out. When we recently bought a new vehicle the tags and registration went to our old, old LOL address, and they sent it back! I'm wondering if perhaps it requested no forwarding on the envelope since it came from the state; otherwise they know us so they could have easily delivered it to us! Sheesh.

We donÂt have mail delivery in our small town so we have a P.O. Box at the post office. Try explaining to just about anyone you order anything from that if its USPS you have to have the P.O. Box number but if itÂs UPS you need the street address. We have had some companies say they canÂt sell us anything because our delivery address doesnÂt match out credit card address. Some people just donÂt believe that we donÂt have mail delivery. I had one company that I had ordered from several times and always used UPS send an order half by USPS to the street address and half UPS to the P.O. Box number. The only thing that saves us is we live is such a small town the postmaster knows us all and is real good about getting our stuff to us. When he goes on vacation itÂs a mess. I donÂt use DHÂs last name so that can be an issue since the O.P. Box is in my name. IÂve told him for years to change his name to mine to make thing easier but he wonÂt do it. LOL

My postman was followed (he is on foot in our area) and timed by some efficiency expert in a suit and tie for several days. And then advised as to how he could improve his speed. My mailbox has a bar code inside that he has to scan each day. He was told to cut across people's lawns and flowerbeds whenever possible. He also had to talk to everyone to make sure it was okay with them. I could care less, but I'm sure some fussier folks might mind.

I feel for him, he is a sweetie. My previous mailmen, and they have all been men except for the odd sub, have been either weird or cranky.
