Remodel
The project involved interior design services for a two-story home. The project was designed by another architectural firm and was already in the framing stage when the clients contacted our team to help them transform their under-construction traditional home into the contemporary masterpiece that they initially wanted. The project needed to be re-designed within the existing foot print. The design team took the challenge of reconfiguring the layout within the exterior footprint of the building. Walls were removed and spaces were opened up in order to create a “Great Room” effect which would give the clients the WOW! factor they were hoping for.

The design goals included:
• Reconfigure/remove walls to create more open space and to improve circulation and flow;
• Enhancing the existing structure in order to create a more contemporary architecture;
• Molding the house through the use of interior materials and finishes to reflect the owners’ taste;
• Organizing children’s play- and toy storage spaces;
• Creating privacy from the street and give views to the backyard;
• Using finishes that would not require much maintenance and would support kids in the house.

The project work included:
• Re-design and reconfiguring of the master bedroom and master bathroom suite;
• Re-design and selection of finishes for:
• the new living room, kitchen, and dining areas;
• All bathrooms; and
• The kitchen;
• Changing all other interior finishes including flooring, wall covering, paint etc;
• Re-design to create a more breathtaking entry way;
• Specifying all new interior and exterior doors;
• Specifying all bathroom finishes;
• Creating a space for a bench and shoe storage at the entry;
• Providing recommendations for all exterior finish materials, and the juxtaposition of materials and finishes and colors for all exterior facades;
• Specifying and ensuring construction materials and finishes met sustainability requirements to achieve Certification by Build it Green.
