The project involved architectural and interior design services for the renovation and remodeling of the kitchen, in a ranch style home in an urban residential area. The owners have two children in their teens and a wide circle of friends who, in various permutations, use – and overuse - the “public” areas of the home.

The size and configuration of the existing kitchen, the shape and utility of the kitchen and its relationship to the breakfast area family room, formal living room, the difficulty of utilizing the kitchen in a particle manner or be able to have more then 2 people in the kitchen at the same time, all limited the family’s enjoyment of the house both privately as a family and as a place to entertain other family members and their. The family cooks every day and the practical layout and use of the kitchen was of utmost importance. It was also important to have access from the kitchen to the side yard. The family wanted the upgrade to be modern and colorful and this became the most important driving factor for the remodel.
