Need Help with Master Bedroom Bathroom/Bedroom Layout - 1970s house
Comments (5)I like my first idea best as far as use of space. I know people say not to put toilets on an outside wall. We had one in our last house in Iowa, but we had 2X6 construction. I don't know how high your window is, but I'm guessing the toilet would fit under there. The shower would be 5 feet long or shorter if you want a wider space to get to the toilet. (kind of tight the way I have drawn). You could do a 5 and half foot long shower and do an angled door at the left end to allow room between the shower and toilet. The vanity would be about 7 feet long, unless you do a 60 inch vanity with a linen cabinet at the door. I would reverse entry door swing if you do that.. The second top right could work and you would still have a small closet. The bottom left plan would require waterproofing your front window. Hopefully someone will give you other ideas. The bottom right plan is bigger, but no closet. Each square equals 1 foot....See MoreBathroom and bedroom destruction complete! Need ideas :)
Comments (6)Hi Azada and congratulations on the new bath! I love solid surfaces, so congratulations on your Swanstone. My shower is a different brand and is so easy to keep clean, you are going to love it! Also, good for you for going laminate. I did laminate in my kitchen and on the library cabinet and have a walnut top in my bathroom. I cringe every time someone pulls out a stone that they hate and replace it with a different stone or quartz. The whole stone tops movement was justified because “it will last forever!” Well, not if you have to keep up with the latest styles. Discarding stone that took thousands of years to form and was shipped from halfway around the world into a landfill seems criminal to me. So, after I got that lecture off my chest….have you checked out the Formica and Wilsonart web sites? In my experience, the big box stores never have all of the patterns that are offered. You can order samples online, too. At least one of the two companies has a sub group of stone looks that are printed so that there is no repeat of the pattern for the entire 8 or 12 foot length. You can get profile edges, as well. When we were doing the library ten years ago, I was lucky to find a piece of the 8 foot length on Craigslist for half of its list price. I ordered the matching edge from a local supplier and my carpenter made a top that looks like stone. With laminates, you can change out your countertops every few years, if you like, for the price of stone. Back to your project, you have nice, warm colors in your floor. Just looking at the paint samples, I like the top one best. I cannot read the color names, even after enlarging your photo, so I don’t know which is Navaho White. You do need to choose your countertop first, so hold off on the paint a bit. But once you order the counter, be sure to tape the paint samples you are considering up on the Swanstone above the tub so that you can choose something that looks good with the Swanstone, too. But counter comes first. Paint colors are infinite. Counters that go with your floor and Swanstone are not!...See MoreMaster bedroom decor - need decor ideas!
Comments (18)The reason I’m not crazy about navy is, that by doing gray on bed frame, you’re in a murkier palette— or softer— compared to crisp navy. So other colors that have that same softness or grayed value will look better. So if blues , then ones that are not as crisp and cool. Unless you do more careful color palette coordination, which is possible but in my experience is hard for a lot of people. Something like using a print fabric or a range of colors In artwork. But just random solids, not so much....See MoreBLANK PORTRAIT; NEED IDEAS SMALL BSMT BEDROOM
