Not joking. To say someone resembles another person doesn't involve staring at side by side photos. It's more a impression made from a glance rather than a detailed analysis. Those guys all had blue eyes (as I do), weren't tall and wiry, not short and round, etc. Does everyone who tries to notice or makes such a connection know what they're talking about? You decide.

The homeless guy at our subway stop in Chicago used to call out to my husband daily "Hey, here comes Donny Osmond." Others think he is a dead ringer for Jon Cryer.

I was mistaken more than once for a woman who was in the same line of work but out west rather than east coast. This was by people in the public. But the kicker is we had the same name. Not kidding. The exact same first and last name. There was another of us but she had a different name.

I am sorry, but that vague description covers probably tens of thousands of people. Lily is right. Curtis and Redford look nothing alike. No one would walk up to Tony Curtis and say, man, you look just like Robert Redford. Nobody.

I am always amazed when I try to look up someone's name, usually to find an obituary, that there are just so many people with that same name. Sometimes it is just impossible to find someone no matter how much information you have about that person.

Robert Redford was on the board of an organization my husband worked for. Redford was supposed to attend a meeting but the security guard wouldn't let him in the building because the guard thought Redford was a homeless person and couldn't be convinced otherwise.

I saw this...a merge of Mariska Hargitay with her mother Jayne Mansfield. So I had my cousin photo shop a pic of me and my mother and the resemblance was clear, though like Mariska and Jayne, our coloring was different, but the facial structure and eyes very much the same.

I've been told more than once in my thirties and forties that I looked like Jaclyn Smith from Charlies Angels show. Eh-I never saw it other than my hairstyle. I've also been told more than once that I sound like Jaimie Lee Curtis.

I was at a restaurant with my dad and a group at a nearby table, maybe Korean, kept staring at him. Eventually they all got up, came over, and motioned that they wanted to take a picture with him. So my dad obliged. Later he told me that this had happened to him before, always with Asian people. My dad liked the attention and thought it was fun. He never did know who they thought he was. He had alopecia and was totally bald. Maybe Yul Brynner?

Judipup, this happens all the time in India. My son -in-law is white and 6’3.” he is always asked to photos with them. It’s a thing!

But, then so are most tourists, he is just extra special because of his height.

That is so interesting. My neighbor is of Indian descent. I walk her dog twice a week at noon. Those are her long work days. I have learned quite a lot from being friends with her. Recently her dad was here. I have "spoken" with him before. He really only says "hi" and "bye" to me when he is staying with her and I come to get Milo the beagle out. He is 75 and sits and watches what appear to be Indian soap operas and various stories on tv while he is waiting for my friend to come home from work. Her parents live in another city but are looking for a house down here now so they can be closer to my friend and they can help each other out. I guess they are all getting to that age. I'm sorry to say that I am not a fan of Indian food but I really like my friend a lot. I told her I come from "white bread" and that her food is too spicy for me. :)

I've met mine. We work for the same company, but in different geographic locations. She was always called by my name, and I was always called by her name by various other coworkers.

Eventually, we met at a work event. I watched myself walk into the room. It was surreal and startling. I sent pics of her to my mother and my mom thought it was me. My own mother. That's how much alike we look.

Murray, yes same as far as food. DD and her DH love it and since they live there 8 months out if the year, it comes in handy!

But, DD misses fresh lettuce and salads. They get that and NY pizza as soon as they get back!

Not resembling a famous person, but something I found odd..whenI lived in California a couple of people called me Carol, not my name. When I moved to Colorado the same thing happened, guess I just look like a Carol.

@eld6161 - we are friendly, as we still work for the same company. We have multiple things in common, including being born in the same year in the same city. Both of us were moved away from that city as toddlers, and we grew up in very different areas of the country.

I look like my father. I do not look like my mother.

We have the same eyes, the same nose, the same smile, and many of the same mannerisms - to the point where, when we're sitting side-by-side, people struggle to tell us apart. When we stand up, she's a couple of inches taller than I am.

It's interesting that we ended up working for the same company - almost like fate wanted us to meet? I've done a DNA test, but she has not.

I was once walking down the road in the winter. A guy in a vehicle slowly drove up behind me and gave a friendly little toot on the horn. I turned around to look to see who it was. I then saw a look of panic in his face. He rolled down the window, and apologised saying that I looked exactly like his wife from behind. He then drove on by.

When I got home, I viewed my back in the mirror. I looked exactly like Quebec’s Bonhomme. I guess his wife does as well. 🤷

My parents moved to a different HS district when I was 17 so I finished up my senior year at a new and bigger HS (>1,000 students). Several times during my final year there other students would greet me as "Steve" in the halls and stairways between classes, but after a closer look they said oops, not Steve. I never got to meet Steve but I doubt he looked like a Hollywood Star, nyuk.

I look a lot like my mother too, which is really weird because I was adopted as a baby. I guess the adoption people picked a mother who looked like my birth mother.

And when DH erected and fixed TV antennas, I used to pick up parts for him in the city. One of our suppliers looked a lot like my (also adopted and thankfully unrelated) brother, who I do not speak to due to his unlawful activities. But the supplier was a really nice guy, and from a different country so clearly not related.

@murraysmom Zone 6a OH, it's a pity you don't like Indian food! It's as common here as Mexican food is in the US and DH and I both love it and I often make a curry for dinner. At my last workplace, one of my coworkers is from India and she often brought in batches of snack type goodies she had made to share and they were a real treat!

Colleenoz, it took me 23 years to eat a mushroom for the first time!!! My mom cooked what my dad liked/wanted so we had a very limited menu at our house. My mom was a good cook. Roasts, chicken, city chicken, pork chops, ham alongside mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, corn, peas. You get the idea. At 22 I moved to San Francisco and spent the next 11 years discovering such good food. But not spicy. Then 14 years in Baltimore, where more seafood of different kinds. Old Bay Spice on crabs was even a challenge for me. I have moved back home to my white bread roots and I am happy as a clam which I am not fond of at all. lol Over those years I came to love Italian, Mexican and Chinese, but hamburgers, chicken and chili are my soul food. I'm happy with that.

chloebud, her name sounds familiar. I lived there from '84 to '98. I loved it there. ETA. I just looked her up and yes, I remember her. I can even remember her voice. Looks like she gave the commencement speech at my college, Notre Dame of Maryland University though when I went there in the '90's it was the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. So cool that you know/knew her.

Yes about the city chicken. Not everyone is familiar. Boy it was good. I think I could still get it. I haven't really tried. I am no cook by any measure but I do remember her dipping it in egg and then bread crumbs. I really should give it a try. What's the worst that can happen, right?

LOL silly people!! City chicken is veal and pork cubes that are put on a skewer, dipped in egg and then bread crumbs and cooked in a pan on the top of the stove. They are delicious!! I don't know if it's a german thing or my local city's thing which is mainly german at least in the beginning.

murraysmom, I learned about city chicken from my mom. She sometimes called it mock chicken. I’m pretty sure she just used pork, no veal. I remember she’d usually serve the skewers with applesauce. I’m not sure where she got her recipe. I’m wondering if it was more typical of the Midwest where she grew up.

Denise, my sister and I did a lot together! She wanted to be an actress, but ended up taking another path where she was very successful.

Getting back to Doppelgängers, many people now take my husband for Clint Eastwood. At first this totally surprised me as before his hair went gray, he had light blond hair. But, now that both he and Clint have gone gray, there is a definite resemblance!

My husband looked so much like our pastor, and like my cousin. One day coming heading out to the car after church, I ran to catch up to DH and called out ”Sweetie, wait up!” and it was Pastor D who turned around! Oops!

Funny, you mentioned that because my grandson looks like a young Leo. When he was a baby, he was mistaken for the baby in the Baby Gap commercials and posters.
