I buy a LOT of cellular shades. You need black outs, they're foil lined. They are AWESOME!

What size are you looking for? You might walk into Lowes, for instance....with the size you need and ask an employee if they have any in the back that have been cut & not picked up. They occasionally have a sale...50% - 75% off the regular price if you get an already cut one. Wouldn't hurt to check. (They sold me 14 for $10 ea, depends on how bad they want to get rid of them)

There are a lot of fabric choices esp if you go custom. Here’s late sfternoon sun coming into my living room through cellular shades. Feela considerably lighter in person than on my screen, but look at the windows themselves and the shadows. Sounds like it might be a good choice for you.

When I built this house in 2021, I put in cheap cell shades on all the windows. Two springs ago, they began to fail starting with the ones that got the most sun, so I bought Levolor from Lowes--much better made and I expect them to last.

@laceyvail 6A, WV...Good point! Mine were ALL Levolor. I even got 2 custom ones, in a sort of goldish-color, for $10ea that were blackouts(for a bedroom), in the exact size I needed already cut!

That wire wheel machine is likely to splatter "stuff" on the shade -the wheels have no hoods like the grinder to the left and direction of rotation is usually rearward from the bottom .

I know little to nothing about terms for items of home decorating, so forgive me for the following. When I saw "cellular shade" in the heading, on the summary page, my mind immediately thought - Ah ha, how about an iShade?

Silly you, PK. A skull cap made of aluminum foil does that very well. During cool weather seasons, they can be worn in public under a knit cap.

@Elmer J Fudd....Yeah...not to worry....the wire brushes are for metal. It throws black dust. DH pulls it back when using it. (I'm not going to nag him. If he ruins something, I shop for another one.)
