My little miracle...
Comments (5)My Viennetta isn't blooming yet, but it survived -20 F this past winter. It's over 4 feet tall and has plenty of buds. It is definitely slower to start than the other clems. Somebody suggested burying it in leaves or mulch during the winter and that has worked very well for me....See MoreAny guesses on Oprah's 'miracle of miracles'?
Comments (49)I've had a computer problem; this is my first day back for a while. The above blows my theory, but I'll share it any way. Oprah was going to announce that she would be running for Vice President in the next election. That would put her in line to be the first female President, black or white. But IF she is Sarah Palin's half sister, (LOL, good one!) that would take the fun out of it, because Oprah would not even consider that a contest. Sue...See MoreSkipping the holidays/ Holiday tips?
Comments (7)Do one volunteer session either before or on Xmas day and you will FEEL 10 feet tall about yourself and others. I ring the bell for a coupla hours at Salvation Army set ups BEFORE Christmas. Yea, the bell is a pain, but...it's only for an hour or so. It's amazing to see WHO gives and WHO doesn't....who won't even look at you and other's that say hello! Since I have volunteered, I ALWAYS SAY hello when I'm NOT ringing and some banter (Are ya cold?) to the bell ringer even if I don't donate at that time. They just appreciate being acknowledged. There's also a Christmas dinner for the indigent in town somewhere...some restuarants do it, others have a organization and need a driver for an hour on Xmas day (volunteers) or volunteers to work in a kitchen or set up or cut pies...days before there's a lot of preparation, etc. A friend of mine...her whole family now volunteers on Xmas Day. Take the fire dept. a cake on Xmas Eve (my aunt always did that) or take cookies to the police department..... Those are very worthwhile endeavors. I work 2 jobs, but I still find time to contribute. It sure makes me fell awfully good and it makes Christmas a lot more meaningful. Just some ideas.......See MoreLittle miracles
Comments (3)Sorry. I promised not to say anything about him online that wasn't food. I wasn't trying to mislead. I'm still tickled that the others brought good challah and wine. :) The blessings are supposed to be over one's best. If that's juice and buns, because that's all one has, it's fine, but so much better if they're good! (I still haven't found a bottle of wine there, but I suppose we could have used something from the kitchen. There's good sherry and something white by the stove. ;)...See More- 8 months agolast modified: 8 months ago
