I saw it on the news also. I wonder if maybe Stedman has a child or maybe like you say her child didn't die and they may have just told her it did. Apparently this was so disturbing that she considered suicide according to the news. I thought it was a son she had that died shortly after birth?

I have enjoyed watching this season very much. Like she was back in the game again.

I'm guessing it is the child she gave birth to-perhaps upon delivery..her relative told her the baby died as she was unmarried and young. Back 'in the day'..parents encouraged their girls to give the baby up for adoption. It'll be interesting...for sure!

Good question, Susan. The news item mentioned that this is her last season, so I figured Monday's episode will be on the regular network (NBC in my area). If it's on her cable show I'll have to read about it on the KT. :-)

My guess is she's found out that her "father" is not her bio dad & maybe she has learned who that bio dad actually is.

I haven't read her book, but Kitty Kelley's unauthorized biography of Oprah has something in it to this effect. But Kitty said that she didn't spill the beans as it is for Oprah herself to uncover.

My thought was that she found her biological father. She and her dad never did see eye-to-eye.

It's just hard for me to believe that a family member who's known " the miracle" for so long, is now coming forward with the revalation! You mean, someone in this billionare's family, has researched the possible truth, and then kept the secret?
Why wait until now to reveal it to her? They could have profited, from whatever it is.
I sound synical, but it helps ratings. Why, if it's so important, do it on the show?

One of the online sites had a little fun with this one. They said that Oprah would come out on stage and in her big booming voice (you know, the voice she uses when she says "this my my favorite things show")..announce that her long lost brother has been found .........and his name is Jesus.

I don't watch Oprah, I used to think the world of her but don't care for her any longer. But I saw the news too, my first thought was her child.

Maybe she was adopted,Who knows..I remeber her starting on a baltimore md channel at noon,with her big afro,now a billionaire wow.They were claiming her and Gail are gay..

I don't care for Oprah.Use to like her but I think she has too gotten too full of herself over the years.Yes,I know,"she does so much for people!" Good point, Jamie, although I could see how that might relate to discovering you had a child all these years. She might have felt overwhelmed with guilt (misplaced guilt, to be sure, but how many of us feel guilty only when it's deserved?) that she had accepted the story of the baby dying, and didn't look for and find him. Or perhaps the baby was placed in an abusive home, something like that.

Or of course it's possible I'm totally off the mark, and she really is related to Maya Angelou Glenn Beck. (I don't think Maya would inspire thoughts of suicide.) LOL

She was actually part of the Jackson family but they gave her up for adoption because she couldn't sing or dance for her supper and she ate more than all of them put together.

In her latest interview, she said when she got pregnant at age 14, she had gone to live with her father. He laid down some rules, and her getting pregnant would bring shame on the family, etc. That's the point at which she thought of suicide. She was blasted after the interview, for making it sound as though she was happy the baby died, so she wouldn't have to deal with it.

I'd love to hear her son actually survived. He would be about 40. I'll find out later today.

It does turn out to be a half sister. I don't really understand the big miracle about that; a big surprise maybe, not a miracle. Wonder what made her mother tell now; 40 some years later......

The above blows my theory, but I'll share it any way.

Oprah was going to announce that she would be running for Vice President in the next election. That would put her in line to be the first female President, black or white.

But IF she is Sarah Palin's half sister, (LOL, good one!) that would take the fun out of it, because Oprah would not even consider that a contest.
