Samsung Fridge: Need solenoid part number
Comments (4)Thank you guys for your help I really appreciated. Well to be honest I'm not really a appliance guru, all the information I have is the result of researching the net for 8 hours lol, so forgive me if I may sound like I don't know what I'm doing. Well that being said I will add more pictures to give you guys a different view hopefully that helps. @Chac_Mool: I placed an order for the water inlet valve which Mojavean also suggested. I had the same thought, if I order that water valve that it comes with the solenoid. Once my order comes in I will see if it comes with it. Thank you for your help. =) @Mojavean: I think you're correct, I've had this fridge for about 5 years so the possibility is very high that the design has changed. Yes, the part I'm trying to repair is located in the back at the bottom of the fridge where the water connection goes. The solenoid was connected to the 1/4" inlet marked as ice. "Can they be moved to the new style, if this is indeed a design change?" - Only thing is I am willing to try a new solenoid design but I wouldn't know which solenoid will work with the water inlet valve since the solenoid had a 3pin molex connection if that's what you call it. You can see this 3pin wire in the picture I have linked below. The link to the picture also shows the words that are molded on to the solenoid and also a picture when it's unscrewed off the water inlet valve. Hope it helps. Let me know if I haven't answered any questions, as I tried to answer each one the best I could. Keep in mind this is my first time repairing a fridge and this repair may not seem difficult I rather get all the help I can before I do anything I shouldn't do. Thank you guys for all the help. Comments (28)As I mentioned previously we have the Samsung with the ice/water dispenser in the door. Had it in our previous fridge and never had a repair in the 10+ years we owned it. With this new Samsung we have only had water drips down the door a couple times in the past 15 months. The key is to train family members to wait a second or two before removing the glass after stopping the water flow so that the last drops of water go in the glass. I did forget to mention in my previous response that when ice is made and drops into the storage bucket it makes a fair amount of noise. After a short while it just became another household noise that we barely notice. Guests will exclaim, "what was that?" but we just pretend we don't know what they are talking about. Try to make them think they are having an auditory hallucination! Even with the noisy ice dropping, we still like the ice and water in the door....See MoreTupperware FridgeSmart -- old or new? sizes?
Comments (12)We still have a 25 year old Kenmore freezer that works fine, it did need a new gasket after a garage fire, but it's been reliable. My current GE refrigerator does freeze produce in the right side crisper drawer, I've got a couple of dish towels under that drawer and that helps a little. I like the idea of putting produce in the doors, though, since I use produce far more than any of the stuff I stick in the doors anyway! I think the new Tupperware is just too, too cute. Too cute for me, that's for sure. I like the old stuff much better, I'm not into "cutesy" at all, or even particularly decorative usually. I like things very plain and would much rather have empty space than useless "decorative items". I kind of LIKE empty space, actually... Annie...See Moresmart fridge recommendations?
Comments (10)@joeT Yeah, I understand cuz I'm not completely sold on it them either - was hoping for some recommendations to hear about what others have experienced. I've read that it's good for tracking shopping lists (keeping track of what you've left in your fridge and what you need to buy) and also communicating between family members. I think you can text messages to the display on the fridge? I also think it displays recipes but I don't think I'll be using it much for that purpose if I were to get one. I already have a GA-powered smart display that sits on my kitchen counter that I use for recipe help....See More- last month
