Let's talk bologna

Once upon a time, I was compiling the ingredients for an awesome, totally perfect, wonderful deli sandwich board of my dreams (for an Oregon Duck game, no doubt) It called for an assembly of deli meats including bologna. This was at a grocery store that sold Boars Head brand. So, I purchased it as well as some other meats, and prepared and served my sandwich board. All went well. Had leftovers. Next day, I made myself a humble sandwich with some bologna and just mayo, just to get rid of it, and was floored. It was simple yet glorious. Absolutely delicious. Bologna is so under appreciated. I think it might have to do with the horrid baloney sandwich that, in my case, was always present in my lunch box at school. While the better off kids were buying pizza and mac and cheese etc. I was embarrassed by my pathetic baloney sandwich. One slice in-between two cheapo white bread slices, in a rumpled, brown bag. What are your thoughts about bologna (or baloney) ???
