Under the category of learn something new every day, I had no idea...that little extra bit on a cat's ear is called Henry's pocket. Who knew?

i didn't know but now i wonder, does henry's pocket serve any particular purpose?

i can't remember the last time the bluebirds nested more than 2 times in a season. the pair i have now are working on their third clutch. first egg laid on friday, second one yesterday.

@chloebud Yes, I don't mind coyotes much as long as they keep their distance. Actually ours don't respond much to the typical hazing. I did use a high pitched airhorn once, and the coyote didn't like that (unfortunately I lost it but should get another). We added onto the top of our wall at home to make it difficult to jump into the back yard where the dog is sometimes. We have had dogs killed by coyotes here and two incidences of small children being attacked by coyotes. Wow, a mountain lion! Now THAT'S scary. You must be in a rural area or foothills. I'm in suburbs, so no mountain lions, but other wildlife like raccoons, possums, etc.

I assume posting mastectomy scars would get me banned, so here is a photo showing part of the post-mastectomy breast (boob, if you will) reconstruction process. These syringes of saline were pumped into the tissue expanders that stretched muscle and skin to make a "pocket" of space for a prosthetic implant. I had seven visits with my plastic surgeon, once a week for seven weeks, to expand my tissues enough to accept my selected implant size.

Our Miata club had it’s annual Christmas get together last night. In the past our hosts, who live in a historic district, have hosted us and our event coincides with a luminary display and tour of homes in another section of downtown Huntsville. We have always arrived early, decorated our cars and slowly paraded through the historic streets, downtown square, by our beloved Tinsel Trail and the luminaries. Some of us play music, wave and greet everyone, and just have a good time. Our route takes us about 30-40 minutes. Due to rain, we have not been able to do this for the past 4 or 5 years so we were thrilled to do it again. We return and share our meal. The Club provides ham, roast beef and turkey and we bring saladsa, sides and desserts). The decorating begins. We had about 12 cars participate this year. I never was able to get a good photo of us on the move.

Ninapearl, they don't know, but suspect it may have to do with improving their hearing for higher pitched sounds. Some bats have them too.

These were pretty while they lasted but the heat has done them in. I had five of these pots. The leaves are still on them but they are doing anything.
