How many 'Kathy's' do you know ?
Comments (13)Egads! Who doesn't know a Kathy/Cathy? One of my old bosses used to laugh every time he heard me tell someone on the phone that I am a Kathy with a K and a Y. I remember in one high school class, there were 3 Kathys and we all sat diagonally from one another. So the teacher would look in one direction and call on Kathy. All 3 of us would answer. I don't think I ever worked anywhere where there wasn't at least 1 other Kathy around. Btw, my real name is Kathleen too! My boyfriend Bob (another horribly common name) knows 3 Lindas. One is his sister, one his late wife and one is his friend's girlfriend. Half the time when he talks about a Linda, I have no idea who he is talking about!...See MoreOMG, There is too much information, too many words I dont know...
Comments (16)Hi Rachel, That is an EXCELLENT insight, one which we might all benefit from keeping in mind. To Tiff & the other newbies&/or Lurkers All this info. really IS NOT TO STRESS YOU,but to help grow better plants. Pls. remember many of us have learned these things over many, many years. I myself have been on here since March 2001 & w/ my local C&S club for over 15 yrs. Some folks here are far senior in participation & plant growing than myself. Al (Tapla), Rhizo, Denise in Omaha, these are folks who have been growing for DECADES. So yes, we remind you all, pls. to take deep breaths, read as much as you can in different sittings & bit by bit it gets in one's head. Bought in 1993 I think (pre-Internet), I can't tell you how many times I read & re-read parts of a book I love on plants called Readers' Digest Success w/ Houseplants (dorky, I know, but very good & comprehensive). Largely because it covered basics: watering, light, mixes, fertilizer, pests & then beyond that into particular plants. But time & again, I went back to check the basics & eventually I got most of it. Remembering to relax is important, this is after all a hobby. The last fellow who lived w/ me taught me that I had a set routine when I came home from work. He told me that I'd get home, change clothes, make a cup of coffee & then w/ my coffee, walk around the apartment, checking on all the plants & their respective needs. This was apparently my winding down ritual (I'd worked rather high stress jobs at law firms), which relaxed me & made me more open to interacting further. Again, it's just a hobby & also good, plants (tho' I love them dearly) are replaceable!!!...See MoreDo you know the words to 'Santa's Going Skating'
Comments (2)After a long search and rewording on Google, I found this, but I don't know if that is all the words: SantaÂs Going Skating SantaÂs going skating on the Arctic sea, HeÂs having a mid-life crisis thatÂs how it appears to me I guess he has been working hard with all the Christmas bustle I hope he doesnÂt hurt himself, he doesnÂt have much muscle Maybe SantaÂs skating spree will end with one big bruise ItÂs been some time since Santa learned to skate - that is true. I think that Santa soon will find his skating days are done HeÂll have to find another way to have his middle aged fun....See MoreDo you know how many photos you can include in your post?
Comments (12)Good plan Peren.all. It is so frustrating to write a perfect paragraph and have it disappear. If you don't want to mess with Word or Office, just do a draft in your own email and copy/paste that into the Houzz forum. Once it is posted just trash the draft. When I tried to post a photo in a new topic, my photo was too large. I waited and waited for it to appear but it didn't. Then I reduced the resolution size and it posted right away, so I wonder if there is a size limit in there somewhere. -Babka...See More- last year
