Update to the hiatal hernia update

I have been doing ok with a treatment of swallowing budesonide for my eosinophilic esophagitis for a couple of years now; though, it's becoming less effective. I saw my gastro yesterday (a miracle since the appointment choices on the 21st were the 22nd and September), and he said Dupixent. All of his EoE patients are cured! Not only that, it's effective for treating asthma and nasal polyps, both of which I have issues. I assume all of it is due to high eosinophil counts. Would make sense. So it's a three-fer (no more polyps, and I get to drop budesonide and inhalers), and I won't have to worry every again about EoE. I said in the previous thread, I wish it was solved, and now, it's SOVLED!

This does sound like a miracle drug. I read your link, but am still in the dark about the problem.

EoE is an allergic reaction that takes place inside your esophagus. Basically it just swells up, and keep you from swallowing. Which is why I thought I had a hiatal hernia. The budesonide reduces swelling (it's a steroid), but Dupixent is better at reducing swelling.

Tango-more I thought about it,the idea of "wafering"the steel between layers makes more sense.With a rigid backing,it would be easier to put the wire/diamond mesh(discovered some of that,too!)on it,tape it down,do the second layer,then finish.I was just playing with the new cover.Without weighing it,it's heavy!!Not in the vein of lightweight concrete art as I'm doing with my other pieces.It will work as a cover,it will be moveable,and,should be durable.BUT,it's too heavy,in the range of 50 lbs or so;it's a pig to carry because of its shape so the weight is a guess.Right now,I have 3 layers of concrete on it.The first one took the most material,the second one the least.The final coating weighs in more because I used a coarser sand to more emulate the neighbours rocky surroundings.As it stands,this exceeds my weight requirements(no hernia-weighted pieces!),so I may rethink the idea of producing them,except for friends and neighbours.But,I'll reinforce each of them. So,at this juncture,it ain't just the additional reinforcement that puts me off.It's the bloody weight!! I'll stick to my other uses for Mymud and mesh for the moment.Your thoughts do carry some "weight" with me,but I would have been put off making more by the reason stated. Ladies & gentlemen: growing pumpkins is a lot of work. But I may finally have a keeper. It is perhaps 8 inches around, and some animal has done some minimal munching on it, but I think it will survive. It is currently surrounded by a cage of chicken wire. In an uncaged area, I am noticing a couple other pumpkins forming. You know, I've got the closed flower and under the flower is the little pumpkin. I did not have time to protect them with a cage before work this morning, but I will fence them in tonight. Raptors have returned to my area to hunt. I can hear their cries all day long, so I think their prey (the annoying little squirrels who were damaging my pumpkin flowers and stems) are in hiding. Go raptors! Now I may get a nice fig harvest to boot. Isn't Nature wonderful with its checks and balances? So my pumpkin plan is to do some fencing and keep up the water and fertilizer. There's about 2 months of hot weather left. I will gladly accept any size pumpkin I can manage to grow & protect. I'll take this year's experience to the bank, and next year...look out! LindaC, the docs aren't saying much, of course, but it appears that while under anesthesia she aspirated some stomach fluid into her lungs and who ever is in charge of watching for such things didn't catch it until things were so desperate that she ended up on the ventilator. She still has the tracheostomy tube, I don't know when she'll get rid of that, but she's home and breathing on her own, uses a bit of supplemental oxygen every now and then when she doesn't shut up for a while, LOL. It's just so good to hear her no one wants to tell her to be quiet. (grin) Annie

Rob, my brother suffered from the very same thing for years. He had trouble swallowing (there were many trips to ER to have food cleared) and had his esophogus stretched a few times, but it didn't last long. He also had breathing issues. He learned last year his nasal cavity was FILLED with polyps and he would need surgery, as he struggled to breathe, was awake all night, and sucking on his asthma inhaler non-stop. He went on Dupixent and within two months, his polyps are completely gone (no longer needs surgery for them), hasn't had any EoE issues, nor has he needed to use his inhaler. He is able to sleep and run again and said he feels like a new person. It's been a miracle drug for him! I hope you find the same relief!

I'm excited because I think the same thing is probably going to happen to me. I'm very happy for your brother bluebell!

The one thing I didn't express earlier, is I think I might possibly get back my sense of smell? They explained to me that my nasal cavity stays swollen, to some degree. What if I can get it to normal size? Here's to wishing and hoping for that too 🤞🏻

I will inquire about Dupixent. The Revlimid (lenalidomide) I have to take to combat Multiple Myeloma results in a swollen tongue. I can easily choke. I am also a lifelong polyp-former. (Have had radical sinus surgery and a colon resection due to polyps.)

It's here, and I have already taken it (hours ago). I always have all the reactions to everything. So far nothing? I'm pretty excited this is taking care of everything? But it's possible it really is taking care of everything!!!
