Does Your City Have A Dog Park?
Comments (33)i live in seminole co. just north of orlando and here you can not walk your dog even on a leash in a public park. you can walk your dog on a leash, on our extensive multi-county trail system thou. i understand the park policy, there are dog owners who don't poop scoop and no one wants to step in that :-0 we also walk our girls at a trail by our house, we park in a parking lot that is shared w/ a public park and have had a few old ladies actually yell at us from their parked cars that we can not be there w/ our dogs & to get out :-0 and actually at this park you can walk on the path along the park to another set of trails but after getting yelled at once we quit going on that side and now only go across the street. there are even signs all along the path that you can walk w/ a leashed dog thru there. we've been yelled at even thou we cross the street too LOL. our dog parks are not supported w/ public funds, usually only thru fundraising and donated land. we volunteer a couple times a yr to help w/ clean-up and maintenance and donate $$ to help keep them open. they are another perk of living in this beautiful area! ~ liz...See MoreWhat do you have hanging on your wall over your sofa??
Comments (18)I know how hard can be to choose something to have there. From what you describe, an abstract painting would go nice there, but here is another idea. Over my living room sofa, I have a big gold mirror (35x42) with two other small sunburst mirrors (12x12, and 9x9) it looks great, but I just had a custom made mirror-window, in wood and black ( 32x42) for my dining room, and I like it so much that I am thinking about switching it with the big mirror over my living room sofa. I think the mirror-window would look great in your space. I had seen it in stores, but not exactly as I wanted it, but you can find it online. I would also suggest if you are not really sure, get any type of mirror. canôt go wrong with a mirror!! Let me know what you think. Good luck!!...See MoreI have a Chicago city lot and don't know what to do with it
Comments (0)Hi there! I have recently demolished a house on a city lot in Chicago. Now it needs some serious beautification. We have already put a parking pad in the back made of CA-6. We plan to fence that off. We will also add an iron fence in the front. Other than that, I'm looking for a solution that is: High durability (think Chicago winter) Low maintenance Budget-friendly Another very important thing to note is that the yard slightly grades down toward the left. I'd like to have as little grass as possible, but I am ok with a small grass area. The purpose of this yard will be for adults to entertain: I like having an area for seating, perhaps some pathways, and even a firepit in it. The lot is 25x100 feet (which does not include the parking pad). What do I need to know to get this all started? What ideas do you have? Do you think its something I can do -- seeing as how I've never done anything like this myself? How can I prevent weeds? Thanks for your insight!...See MoreJust when you think you know your city...
Comments (38)I've only lived inside the city limits of Los Angeles since moving to southern California in 1989, except for one month in Huntington Beach, when I was visiting a friend who was moving to L.A. with me. My first address was Culver City 90232, which mean that the CC post office delivered my mail, but I was actually in Palms, and so we had to rely on L.A. fire and police departments, even though the Culver City police department would call me to solicit donations, which I refused to give. Then I moved to Venice, which is also in L.A. city limits, and now I live in Westchester, also in the city limits, and if I go very far (like 10 miles) away, people do not know where Westchester is, but they do know where LAX is, which is completely within the zip code of Westchester 90045. I tell people I live in Westchester because L.A. is too vast (for locals). Culver City, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood are all completely surrounded by Los Angeles but are their own cities, as is the city of San Fernando. I expect people to know where Culver City is, since it was the original home of MGM Studios, and I lived just across the street from there and could see the MGM lion from my kitchen window. I did tell people back then that I lived in Culver City because it was more specific, and that's what my address was. I also worked in Culver City at that time, and now my brother does as well....See More- 7 days ago
