Eerie coincidence or…?

I’m on a group text with a bunch of my cousins, an occasional chat that started years ago. One cousin sent a picture of the last time my grandmother was together with her four kids. I commented about how old our parents looked, in particular the oldest, my father, who was just 49 at the time.

While this was going on, I was doing some cutting on a table saw. Last cut, I wasn't paying attention, made a rookie mistake, and the piece kicked back and flew into my shin, leaving a scraped bruise.

Now, it just so happens that my father lost a fingertip due to kickback from a table saw, also a rookie mistake. 🤔

I’m not sure I can blame this one on my phone spying on me, unless he’s got cell reception up there!

Any such stories to add?

Judo, that plant may very well need more water. I was having the same scenario - my 5 gals vs my 3 gals. All my 5gals are that size or larger, and needed about 1.5gallons/day of water. At first I chalked up the wilting to heat and sun, but when kept watered daily w the 1.5gal they stayed perked up the entire time. Mine are completely root bound in the pots, and the size of the canopies on the plants simply allows for excessive amounts of water loss - the pots just can't retain enough. I have just switched to a drip system to constantly water them (so I don't have to do the daily dance!) - and now they look firm all through the day. Try the experiment on one of them with the added water - if it stays perked up then you can rule out the sun/heat factor. BTW - your plants all look great though (here) and previous updates. How's the ole sauce business treating you lately too man? Jay

Love these...Here's mine, from yesterday in fact! I was cleaning out the kids rooms. My older daughter had a "I'm a Big Sister" book that was too young for her and was going to toss it out. Then, I thought, do I know anyone that is pregnant, in case someone else could use it? But no one came to mind. That night I got an email from a friend that she is pregnant (been trying for a long time) and has a 3 year old daughter, so the book would be a perfect fit!! I emailed her my congratulations and told her the story! iammadeofdreams...ohhh, your story gave me chills, but I also think it was your dads way of saying he's okay!

I agree with "getting started." I know things vary depending on where you live, but in our two builds over the last 15 years, the most irritating (and unplanned) delay was the permitting process - it took four months after plans were submitted in our previous house before the builder got the go-ahead to start, and almost six months for our current home. I think to be on the safe side, allow yourself time for preparing the plans, submitting them for permits, and making whatever revisions council demands.

I think I'd wear them if I were you. Even if no one else knows their significance. That picture of your mother is stunning. So pretty, and put together. Do you know what the event was? With the straw and corn stalks, maybe something harvest time related? It's funny you should be mentioning gloves and in connection to your mother. I found a pair in a drawer along with my girl scout sash this week that she had saved for me....trying hard to tame the stash that has found its way into closets again. (I really do better without a lot of excess around) I have a little pair of Easter gloves in the drawer. I couldn't have worn them much longer than toddler age. They can't be but about 2 1/2" from wrist to finger tip ;) I'm going to guess the only way she could have kept them on my hands was if my sister was wearing a pair too, making me want to copy. But again, your mother was so beautiful.

Oh my. No stories to add (other than when I walked in on brother's friend using a table saw, he reached over top to hit the off switch and nicked 2 fingers. Brother rushed him to the ER. He managed to keep both fingers, though one is permanently crooked.

But when I first started reading your story, I somehow expected US war plans and timing to be part of the chat!! :)

Not quite as dangerous, but this: about 40 years ago, my parents and I were driving cross-country to a wedding. About 2 hours from home, something was going wrong to the car, we pulled off and there was a car dealership. The car could be repaired but it would be a couple of days (getting the part, then labor). After a lot of brainstorming, Dad decided to trade in the car, and we were on our way to the wedding. A year or so ago, my brother was driving cross-country in his new car. Halfway to home, something was going wrong with the car, he pulled off and there was a dealership. The car could be repaired but it would take a couple of days (getting the part, then labor). You know what happened. We refer to it as "Pulling a Dad".

Coincidence or cooperative incident? Depends on your beliefs I suppose. I happen to believe there are spirits all around us. There have been some funny ones. One that comes to mind is about my brother who passed too young. The back story is he was estranged from the ex-wife and the kids. We were cutoff from the kids as well.

They found out he had died when their Mom was doing a geneology tree and found the death certificate. Long story short, we reconnected and they sent a current photo. I sent this photo via email to my StepMom and Dad who were in VA. They in turn forwarded this photo to all the family. Well guess what. My brother was the one who had connected their cable before he died and it was somehow connected to his name and email? So my brother sent out the photo of his grown kids! LOL You can’t make this stuff up. It looked like it came directly from him.

Also, this brother was my Mom’s first born and he was born on her Dad’s birthday and he died on her Mom’s birthday. Signs, signs everywhere signs.

My father told me his mother was hospitalized but she wasn't opening her eyes or communicating (I'm going to assume she had a stroke cuz it was a long time ago). To make myself feel better until I could get over there to see her, I envisioned her surrounded by angels talking to her in the darkness. When I finally arrived to her hospital room, daddy told her I was there, and she acted like she wanted to jump up and tell me something. That was the only time she moved. Maybe somebody sent me the vision? Maybe she did because she wanted to tell somebody that she was still in there! She was certainly special.

This happened to me a few weeks ago.

Someone looked at my Facebook pictures and found a picture of me when I was 30 years old. They commented on how pretty I was.

(We were all pretty at 30...no big deal).

Somehow because someone commented on that picture, it brought it up in my news feed, and then many people commented similarly about it.

I made the comment that the picture was 48 years old, and I look nothing like that now.

Later, I had to go to town....Lufkin, the nearest city to me. Small by the standards of most cities.

I always park a distance from the front of the store. As I was walking back to my car, an elderly Hispanic lady was walking towards me. There is no way this lady knew me....much less read my Facebook page. I was not thinking about Facebook. I was thinking about going to Tractor Supply, across the parking lot from me, and what horse feed I was going to buy.

When the lady got right in front of me she said, "After all these years, you are still beautiful."

I was stunned. So much so that I never responded, stopped or looked back. No way anyone could have seen me and thought that I was ever good looking. For my age...I am okay. I don't concern myself with those things any more. It was one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me.
