Super weird coincidence????

Or, she's watching. I keep thinking how much my mom so would have loved this wedding theme. I've been trying to decide whether or not to wear the opera length gloves with a bracelet I picked out... And today I found this picture, which I was not looking for, and I see her wearing the exact same thing!? Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen her wear these gloves, even though she owned them. Kinda cool.

She was glamorous to the end. The funeral home made sure to polish every nail, and put on red lipstick. I made sure she had a blingy jewelry.

And that's why I think she would love this wedding tomorrow. I wish she was here to see.

Ladychroe, Don't feel foolish, it happens to the best of us, LOL. I started many tomato plants this year and gave away many, my sister in law called me a few weeks ago telling me that I had to come by and see the vine that is growing within the tomato plants that I gave her. The damn plant stood over 12 foot tall, (we measured) and what was it? Damn Jimson weed. They had gotten some compost from one of the municapal places around here, it had to come in with that, cause it wasn't in the soil that I had the tomato plants in. Remember though if you let that plant there, you'll have it for years to come, because those spike will open and deposit the seeds all over. Good luck!! Alberta

I live in 1700 farmhouse,lots antiques,but you have to decide how far you plan to go with antiques,if youre gonna use it everyday then yes it will need some work,but we have to live with these things too,so if its just for looks let it sit.If you use it fix it up.Now if it were like my roll top desk Id say leave it alone.

What strange coincidents! I have one too. Many years ago my sister gave our son a set of cars that included firetrucks and police cars. They were battery operated and would "speak" when a button was pushed. He eventually out grew it and it was put in an "old toys" box in the basement. One night many years later DH and I both woke up thinking we heard far away voices somewhere in the house. We thought at first that it was the kids, but they were sound asleep. As we went downstairs we realized that it was coming from the basement, and that it sounded mechanical. It was one of the cars in the toy box that kept repeating "emergency...emergency, over and over. We found it and turned it off. DH said he had moved that box a couple of days earlier, and thought he must have jostled it and somehow something had settled and pushed the button. We were amazed that the battery still worked so many years later. We went back to bed, but after a while DH got up again saying something didn't smell right. He went back down to the basement, and quickly came back up, saying we needed to get the kids out to the car. (it was winter) He said the smell was stronger in the basement and might be something wrong with the furnace. We had not noticed that when we were down there earlier. We got everyone out, and woke the neighbors to call the fire department. No cellphones back then. They found that the level of carbon monoxide was very high! This was before carbon monoxide detectors were common. DH had turned off the furnace when he went down there, and they opened all the windows in the house to air it out. The next morning we discovered that the furnace chimney was blocked by a big bird that had fallen in. The fire people said that often happens when birds sit there to warm themselves and then pass out from the fumes. Having screened caps on chimneys is very important! Anyway...if that toy hadn't activated itself and woken us up...... Elisabeth

Yep, I found out that locks mean nothing. He had a flat metal bar that you slide down through the window until it hits the lock, which unlocks manual locks. For my power locks, he used a wedge at the top of the window to make space for a metal wire contraption to slide through, which he manipulated until it reached my door handle, hooked it, gave it a twist, and it pulled the handle up, opening the door. It took seconds to use both. He thought it was a manual lock at first. He was very personable like all TJ employees, otherwise I might be suspicious.

Omg, love the photo! It looks like your mom was channeling Audrey Hepburn (my personal style fav). And my bubble cut Barbie doll had a similar dress (complete with the gloves)!

I think I'd wear them if I were you. Even if no one else knows their significance.

That picture of your mother is stunning. So pretty, and put together. Do you know what the event was? With the straw and corn stalks, maybe something harvest time related?

It's funny you should be mentioning gloves and in connection to your mother. I found a pair in a drawer along with my girl scout sash this week that she had saved for me....trying hard to tame the stash that has found its way into closets again. (I really do better without a lot of excess around)

I have a little pair of Easter gloves in the drawer. I couldn't have worn them much longer than toddler age. They can't be but about 2 1/2" from wrist to finger tip ;) I'm going to guess the only way she could have kept them on my hands was if my sister was wearing a pair too, making me want to copy.

But again, your mother was so beautiful.

It was the first formal dance at University for Daddy

She came from "money", and they always dressed "proper".

Not that she had money anytime later on in life.

We were brought up to present ourselves as the family of a naval officer, and in that day and age, we always wore white gloves. I remember mine, with the little pearl buttons. Wasn't that a crazy time?!

I remember trying on my mom's gloves when I was little - she had opera gloves too, but I don't recall seeing her wear them.

Your mother was lovely. I never wore long gloves but my mother and I wore gloves to church, especially on Easter.

Your Mom looks gorgeous! Love the gloves. I can recall havung a pair too although I probably wore them twice iirc. I packed them away and they moved around with me for a long time. Wear them!
