April 25 is ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand, the equivalent of the US Veterans’ Day. It was chosen because on April 25, 1915. the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps stormed the beaches at Gallipoli in what was ultimately a failed camapign to take the Gallipoli Peninsula from the Turks led by Kemal Attaturk. It was the first campaign in which there were major losses for the ANZACs. There is usually a special service held by Australian and New Zealand participants at Gallipoli on ANZAC Day, which is facilitated by the Turks, and towns all over both countries have a Dawn Service and usually a parade and wreath laying ceremony later in the day for all returned service personnel, as well as other activities commemorating the day.

Today I asked the Dollar General clerk to check if there was any 23lb.boxes of the kitty litter I buy back in the store room, as there was none on the shelf, and if so I wouldn't have to drive to another DG hoping they had it.

I followed her back with my cart, and there it was - bottom shelf of a large skid under some other boxes. She sighed, but said "no problem" as she had to unload the top stuff to get to what I wanted.

While checking out, and as she reached into my cart to the two boxes with the pricing gun, I said, "Wait a minute, I've changed my mind. I don't want this kitty litter". You should have seen her face. Then I said, "April Fool's!" She laughed and said, "There was no way you were leaving this store without it". lol
