oh no Cherry- this is not the post we were expecting. You've been through so much and are going through so much..... at least you are being monitored and will get the help you need.

You were right- as much as the hospital is not a place one wants to be, when it's needed, it's the only way to go.

I am so sorry that your health is declining again but I'm glad you are back in the hospital where you can be more closely watched and treated. While you are there please arrange for nursing care to be provided when you return home again if you are still having health and mobility issues. Or perhaps a temporary stay at a nursing home.

I hope as you receive treatment that your discomfort will be less.

Oh no Cherry! So sorry to hear this! I wish I could take away your suffering and make you well! I hope they get to the bottom of what your issues are and can fix them once and for all. I hope this doctor is better for you, and I still think you should request to see a gerontologist who can look at the whole picture and make sure the meds they are giving you are properly adjusted for your kidney function, age, etc. Our bodies respond differently to meds when we're older and drs don't always know to take that into account.

Hugs, Cherry. I'm so sorry you've had a set back. it had sounded to me like you'd been released too soon to a home not quite ready for your limited mobility. This time they will get it right and hopefully you'll be good, feeling much better soon. i just wish you hadn't been through so much - we want you well. Hang in there, dear friend, you're on the home stretch now!

I had those wraps and pumps on my legs for a couple of days following hip surgery years ago. i was so drugged those first couple of days they weren't too much of an annoyance and the nurses were only turning them on periodically. How differently they accomplish those hip surgeries recently, I have friends who have had the done outpatient when I was admitted for 4 nights!

I’ve had those things on my legs before, when I was stuck in a hospital bed for a week. They are so necessary to help prevent blood clots, but they can make your legs very hot too!

Oh man Cherryfizz I'm sorry to hear this. You sure are going through it right now. The leg wraps are to help prevent blood clots. Maybe request food a little easier on the stomach? Rice, chicken, soup, yogurt? You have my prayers for a fast and complete recovery.

Thanks everyone. I definitely don’t have Cdif, been tested a few times and you are automatically tested when anyone is admitted. I had diahrrea since December and since the colonoscopy prep whatever bug I had that cleared it out and finally back to normal function. I am still in the hospital, now in a semi private room which is nice but I have been the only person I have shared a room with who hasn’t had pneumonia or hacking and coughing up a lung. Except for the extreme fluid retention i am doing great, the fluid on my thighs prevent me from walking very much because my bad knee can’t support the weight and because they are so big there is no gap or sir space at the top and they rub together causing chafing. As my kidneys allow I am given high doses of Lasix by IV 3 times a day but yesterday the Doctor said my kidneys were ”angry” so he is giving them a break from the Lasix for a few days, the Lasix also interferes with my electrolytes so they give me IV supplements. ii am getting the best sleep at night, at home I am lucky I get 4 hours of sleep, now I get more than 6. The day after the colonoscopy andGI scope I have been sick after every meal until 2 days ago and again yesterday after dinner so I am not eating anything heavy or bready. Mostly soups or broths. I was assessed by a Doctor from the Rehab centre so once I lose mist of the fluid and I can walk a bit more I can go to the centre for a few weeks to get my mobility back. It is run by the hospital so there is also mursing care. I am not going home until I can walk up my front porch steps and get into my house. haha it is so hard to type on a phone keyboard. Thank you all again.

Glad to read you're IMROVING! I'm very happy they will take you in rehab -- no discharge to home until you are much, much better.

They were crazy to send you home last time, and that will knock them down a peg on the ratings. One measure is appropriate discharges WITHOUT READMISSIONS. I know you were 'in' for weeks, but going home wasn't appropriate.

Do you have a 'case manager', maybe someone from the hospital's social work department?

I'm excited for you going to rehab. I hope you connect with a PT or OT who is lots of help you enjoy working with. A good one can be worth their weight in gold and will have you going up those stairs and managing independently in your house in a very reasonable amount of time. You'll be back in time to wave goodbye to all this chilly weather and enjoy your life as you should!

Chisue, yes there is a social worker who comes to assess you and see what your needs are and will advise you or get you the equipment or help you need at home.

OK! This time the SW should do a better job of finding an APPROPRIATE setup for when you are discharged -- first, from hospital, and then, after rehab.
