Staying healthy, a doctor's advice

last year
last modified: last year

A recent primary care consultation came with a suggestion to follow a "once every 6 month schedule" for vaccine for the illness that caused a disruption a few years ago.

I'd forgotten about the recommended schedule. I caught it I believe on a long plane flight last year, during which the passenger across the aisle spent the entire time coughing. Without covering his mouth, no mask, no tissue or hankie. I figured I would suffer the consequences of his lack of consideration and disrespect, and I did. Fortunately, I had a mild case and just 24 hours of achiness and fatigue.

Anyway, the doc said getting it regularly "may or may not help, but doing so certainly won't hurt". That's my attitude about the annual flu shot, which I always get.

I like advice like that. It was easy to get an appointment for later today and so that's what I'll be doing.
