Anyone ever gone to the No Shampoo method?
Comments (45)update: We still aren't 100% shampoo free. We cut down to only washing every other day, and then substituting every other of those with baking soda. I've gotten to where I look forward to a fully baking soda cleansing routine. I certainly like it even better than days when I shampoo (the one which was chemical free). We have finally run out of the chemical free shampoo and now it is time to be 100%. My son's hair was crazy oily all the time (no matter what type of shampoo or how often he cleaned it). He'd get out of the shower and it'd still look greasy?! Going this route has sent him back to the non-greasy days, AND his face acne has reduced. His hair is so soft. He loves it. Me? I love it. I feel like my hair so much less stressed. And people keep offering compliments without my asking. People who have no reason to talk to me about my hair, e.g. someone standing behind me in church and we've never talked about hair? So I think that's pretty unbiased. No one knows in real life knows we've done, except on this forum (and anyone reading it). When it gets to the point someone says, I really love how great your hair looks! What's your secret? Then I'll know I have "arrived". It's getting there. I appreciate the feedback y'all gave me before trying it. What was really cool? It was super easy to get through camping this weekend. I washed it before we went out and then this morning. But it was fine all weekend! Let me focus on the more fun stuff. ____________________ Jodi, did you stay conditioner only? Comments (61)When I was in school, I think I shampooed 2 or 3 times a week. I had great hair. When I left home and got into the workforce, I found I needed to shower more often because I was a waitress and smelled like food. With showering more often, came shampooing more often. When I had my 3rd baby and became a stay at home mom, I didn't wash my hair as often. Who has time to shower and shampoo daily? Then back to the workforce I went. I went back to washing daily whether it needed it or not. I've always known it was hard on the hair. My hair did thin quite a bit after the birth of my daughter (baby #3), but it was still very managable. But the older I get the less managable it is. It dries easier, frizzes, is fly-away..... I think dying my hair doesn't help. Harsh chemicals, even though I only colour my hair 2 or 3 times a year. The grey roots get really long before I colour again. Right now, they're probably 1 1/2" long. Because of this thread, I'm trying two things: organic shampoo and conditioner along with the mouse to put less chemicals on my hair. And shampoo less often to get the natural oils to do their job, rather than continue to strip my hair of what mother nature intended for it to have. I may also switch to the organic moisturizers and face cleansers. Back to basics. It can't hurt to try. Can it?...See MoreShampoo/Conditioner that makes your hair bouncy?
Comments (45)I actually skipped washing my hair yesterday morning. It looked terrible, but the good thing is I work from home. I ordered terriks bar soap and conditioner. Terriks, what do you keep them in? I'm also going to order the Keratase in travel size. I want to find something I like, but a part of me is hoping I don't like the Keratase, because of the price. I already bought Dove Oxygen Moisture based on a recommendation by the Paula's Choice staff. I started using it in the winter when my hair was starting to seem more thin. Once summer hit and the frizzies started, I put it away until next winter. I'll have to see what the difference is between it and Dove Daily Moisture. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!...See MoreTwo new to me product reviews (makeup/hair)
Comments (29)I've been looking for a tinted lip balm--thanks for the Elf and Burt's Bees recommendations. I don't care for lipstick and only wear it a few times a year. I like some color, but I certainly don't need anything that lasts more than a few hours. After I drink/eat in public, I'm always prepared to reapply. I had a BB lip balm pre-Covid and really liked it. I have fine hair, and have been using a hair care line from my stylist that's very good but pricey. I ran out a few months ago, and it wasn't convenient at the time to get more. In a pinch, I bought this Pacifica Vegan Silk shampoo and the conditioner from Target. They are great products for my hair, and I now rotate them with the more expensive stuff from my stylist....See More
