Eld - those are such great ideas and so cute.

My 37-year old son had a small family dinner last night (the first one that he and wife have ever hosted and they did an amazing job) for 15 people. Four of those were younger cousins ranging in age from 9-13. My son and his wife have a 13 month old so don't have any games/toys etc for the older age group. So he bought 2 gingerbread kits, set up a table for them and the kids had a blast putting them together. My son also provided boxes (boxes that used to contain Huggies!) so that they could take them home with them.

Agreed I can see doing the build a snowman. Never was an 'elf' fan. Back in the day we introduced the night visit of St. Nicholas to our young son. He FREAKED out thinking of someone coming into our home to fill shoes. Pretty sure this doll coming to life nights would have sent him off the rails.

It was a hard time. Lilo, I did not realize that you came from Frankfurt/Oder, I thought you were from Frankfurt/Main. My admiration to all of the refugees then and now. Having a home at Christmas 1944 again, there were my mother, father absent somewhere on the eastern front, my little brother, grandfather and me. A 5 bedroom house but at Christmas we were 23, 19 of the inhabitants refugees from Dresden, Hamburg, Nuernberg and the first woman, child and grandmother from the area NE of Dansk. By April 45, until January 46 we were 45. Then came the 2nd of January 45. I was sent to Nuernberg to deliver some potataoes and root vegetables to a reative. I was the messenger for the family. Just shy of 13 yrs, I looked like 8 and most people felt sorry for that little one traveling by herself. The overcrowded transportation system usually had a bit of room for me and the police looking for contraband in the form of food w/o accompanying ration card never bothered me. I delivered my loot, went back to the railroad station and then came the air raid sirens. 3 days later they dug us out of the railroad airraid shelter. I guess from that time comes my dislike of crowds.

I'm voting too for AI. I think I've had one bag of oranges that peeled and sectioned that perfectly in the last many weeks. All others were either hard to peel, even the little mandarin Cuties (which were admittedly a bit overripe) or they are all but squashed when sectioning them.

Can’t remember where I first saw it. Could have been here. This was another one I’ve made these ”Creature Chips With Guacamoldy” I saw years ago from Martha Stewart. Just cut out shapes from tortillas with cookie cutters and bake them. My kids loved it!

The bow climbing wall is my fave 🙂

Here's a craft I do every year with our elementary campers - cinnamon clay ornaments. We pat it out on waxed paper dusted with more cinnamon and shape with cookie cutters - glitter makes everything more fun:

They make my art room smell heavenly while they dry ☺️

blfenton, my boys used to love setting up their old Thomas table for their younger cousins. In fact, we would often find other grown-up guests in there, too, setting up elaborate track systems!
