Eld - those are such great ideas and so cute.

My 37-year old son had a small family dinner last night (the first one that he and wife have ever hosted and they did an amazing job) for 15 people. Four of those were younger cousins ranging in age from 9-13. My son and his wife have a 13 month old so don't have any games/toys etc for the older age group. So he bought 2 gingerbread kits, set up a table for them and the kids had a blast putting them together. My son also provided boxes (boxes that used to contain Huggies!) so that they could take them home with them.

Those are cute -- esp. the 'build a snowman'!

Agreed I can see doing the build a snowman. Never was an 'elf' fan. Back in the day we introduced the night visit of St. Nicholas to our young son. He FREAKED out thinking of someone coming into our home to fill shoes. Pretty sure this doll coming to life nights would have sent him off the rails.

Would you pay $$$ for one Christmas ornament?

Oh my goodness! I have that issue, and hadn't noticed the ornament in question because it's in the middle of the layout, almost obscured by the hinge. You have a good eye. I have to say, though, that if I read that the value was $25.00, no way would I pay more. I find that the items valued in CL are always way above the prices commanded in my area, but it's nice to know that someone would pay so much for my old stuff. OT, but last year I decided that I wouldn't buy any more vintage ornaments unless they were really special and a really really great bargain. I passed on a couple of good deals at thrift stores--felt very virtuous, but now that it's time to decorate, I've been kicking myself. Next time I'll get them, and if I have buyer's remorse I'll put them up on eBay. Also decided to donate my stash of decades of Christmas issues of CL and Country Home. I have more room in my closet, but I miss those articles about vintage collections!

I have a friend who does the elf thing for her boys and she is so incredibly creative. Don't know how she does it.

Very cute but I have no little ones. I doubt my 26-year-old grandson would qualify.

Cute!

The bow climbing wall is my fave 🙂

Here's a craft I do every year with our elementary campers - cinnamon clay ornaments. We pat it out on waxed paper dusted with more cinnamon and shape with cookie cutters - glitter makes everything more fun:

They make my art room smell heavenly while they dry ☺️

So fun!

blfenton, my boys used to love setting up their old Thomas table for their younger cousins. In fact, we would often find other grown-up guests in there, too, setting up elaborate track systems!
