Saturday in the Park was "Chicago". What a great band. They had so many hits! Yeah Harry.... Green Grass and High Tides forever. But my fav. Outlaws song is "Prisoner". The band I play with and do sound for performs that song and they do it just like the Outlaws did. Wonderful to be right in the middle of all that music. We are playing tomorrow night for a wedding reception. Should be a fun party. I just downloaded Michael McDonald's album "No Lookin' Back" from iTunes. After my husband died in 1987 I listened to it over and over. I used a song from it "Our Love" for my wedding to my current DH. Its so nice to listen to it again. Comments (61)As a 9 year old kid in Elk City, OK in 1950, I met Tim Holt, Fuzzy Knight & Randolph Scott who were some of my favorite cowboy movie stars that made personal appearances at a local movie theatre. And, during our town's 50th. anniversary in 1951 I met & shook hands with Jess Willard who had been the Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World, 1915-1919. He lived in my hometown during the early days & helped lay the bricks that paved Broadway St. and are still there and "in use" now in 2006! Moving ahead several years and after I had moved to PA...my wife & I saw Richard M. Nixon as he arrived by helicopter and dined at the then-famous Bookbinder's Restaurant in Philadelphia one evening while we were eating dinner there also. Then later, during the mid-1970's, we saw "The Duke" John Wayne in New York City getting out of his limousine and greeting the gathering crowd at Rockefeller Center. Guess that's about it... Comments (17)It came with my new car, but it's not user friendly in my car, the way my radio is set up, so I rarely use it. It mainly gets used on road trips. It does come in handy though if we are in the car and there is a sports game on that is important to dh or my boys b/c we can almost always find it broadcast on one of the many sports channels. Jujubean, what a coincidence that you mentioned Serial. My neighbor just told me about it yesterday and I listened to the first installment this morning while weeding through email on my computer. I actually live just south of Baltimore, and was living here at the time of that murder but I don't remember it at all. The journalist does raise interesting questions in first installment about whether people can honestly account for their time on any particular day, especially one that occurred many weeks prior. I really should acquaint myself better with what is broadcast on Sirius as I spend a lot of time in my car and probably would enjoy many of the channels....See MoreDo you remember your first?
Comments (43)ahhhh...what a trip down memory lane...I have ALL my vinyl's, have uploaded bunches of them to the computer...scratchy noises and all...some never made it to CD and I couldn't part with them... My first album was Monkee's Headquarters..the first 45 I got was 98.6 by Keith...they had these cheap 45's you could buy at grocery stores that weren't by the REAL artists...i wasn't about to have any of those...YUK...but my brother thought it would be cool for me to have some and some turned out to be not sooo bad!...My first record player was a 78RPM...you couldn't get records for it for my generations music (an you shoulda seen the size of the needles!)...but my Dad sure like playin his records on it...If I heard the Mills Brothers one more time...LOL...then I got one that had all four speeds...it folded up...you opened it up and the turntable came down and the speakers came off the ends...I was stylin then!! (I was probably as excited about that machine as when my kids got their IPODS!) I was probably 9 or 10 when I got my first record and have been JAMMIN ever since!...See More- last month
