My husband was at that concert (before I knew him, alas). It's one of his fondest memories.

I was there, there were A LOT of people. Happy dancing singing people.

I have watched that so many times and never tire of it. I love their music so much.

I would have given anything to have been there! I did get to see them on their reunion tour and each of them in concert separately, but the Central Park concert would have been magical.

I know I saw them sometime since Y2K Day but I don't remember where or when.

I have many of their albums and I think I enjoy listening to them more than a concert, when time constraints limit the set lists to a small sample of their work. I think some of their best stuff includes lesser known and less successful tunes.

An interesting story that I may not have exactly right. Childhood friends. They got the chance to record an album. It flopped and they agreed to go their seperate ways. I think Simon went to London. Some months passed and Sound of Silence started getting radio play. Simon was called back, the album was altered and new songs came along, and off they went together again.

When they were really young kids starting out, they called themselves Tom and Jerry. Later at the height of their careers, Art wanted to be in the movies and went off to work on a well-known film that I forget. Paul wrote the song Loneliest Boy In New York, and the lyrics supposedly were directed at Art.

It was so sad that their relationship fell apart after creating such inspired and amazing music for so long. I wasn't a big fan of Garfunkle (the name, the hair - I was a teen girl :-) but loved them together. Then, long after they split, Art appeared at our performing arts center. I wasn't much interested, but a friend asked if I wanted to go with him, so I thought, why not? It turned out to be one of the most magical musical experiences of my lifetime, and I've been to a LOT of concerts. Our performing arts center has amazing acoustics and when he sang Bridge over Troubled Water a cappella...well, I've never experienced anything like it. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

I adored them. It's crazy but I mostly think that I was at the concert ( Central Park) but I kind of think it's just from seeing it so many times. I have no idea.

I did hear that they actually did "reconcile" very recently.

Thanks for those links, Petalique. I have seen Paul Simon many times on TV, especially on Colbert and think he looks basically the same. I recognize him immediately. But with Art...Wow! He was always my favorite even though Paul was the genius. His melodic sweet voice and face. Never would I recognize him. His son has a lovely voice too but Art seems so different looking and sounding. Paul sounds the same. I'm so glad they had lunch together. Two voices that made so many people happy should always remain friends. That song "Old Friends" is a real beauty. I have the S&G channel on Pandora and hear all these old songs daily as I hike the trail.
