spoiler about the book The Silent Patient

I have Greek mythology questions. I know that the author is very steeped in Greek mythology, but I can't quite figure out which figure the main character supposed to be mirroring. He does do the Heracles/Hercules thing and bring Alcestis back from the dead and hits you over the head about the husband making the death choice, but I really more feel like he's mirroring the Oedipus paradox, the farther he tries to run from his fate, the more he runs into his fate.

What do you think?

What do you think about all the other Greek symbolism within the book? Is he just picking Greek names? Or is there something to be said for his boss being Diomedes?
